BEST BAND EVER: Results!

Patton is just as talented and versatile as Mercury, both should really be going far. This round is a bummer for Gilmour and Tony Martin.

*braces for @Forostar‘s Martin defense.

Gilmour is a good vocalist, but far from top tier, he is out of his depth in this group. Freddie Mercury will probably win the whole game, and rightfully. As much as I like Patton, and his versatility, he just can't beat him. Tony Martin is above Gilmour, but far beneath Mercury and Patton; he's very inconsistent and not particularly good live (avoided high notes all the time).

Eliminated after Round 65:
David Gilmour
Mike Patton
Tony Martin

Promoted after Round 65:
Freddie Mercury

Eric Adams (MANOWAR)

Layne Staley (ALICE IN CHAINS, MAD SEASON)

Phil Mogg (UFO)

Roy Khan (CONCEPTION, KAMELOT)

The quality of this group is much lower than the previous. Eric Adams isn't a particularly good singer, you know. He has the voice for the band, but he doesn't have one that goes beyond Manowar's limited appeal. Phil Mogg has a pretty good voice, too, but again, within his range. I've never been a fan of the sound of AIC vocally, so I am going with Roy Khan. I might be the only one, though.

I like the styles of Phil Mogg and Eric Adams (the latter has quite nice range too, I think). Khan doesn't appear to have the vocal power of the others, but Layne Staley is very, very good in this performance, in terms of power, range, and agility. I'm surprised because I'm not an Alice in Chains fan, but I've got to go with Staley ahead of Adams.

One of the things I'm most curious about regarding this game is whether Layne Staley will make the Top 10 or not. I don't think he was there the last time we did a vocalists game - that was almost a decade ago to be fair. Even I myself wasn't into Alice in Chains back then.

I think it's definitely possible. We seem to have a decent chunk of AIC fans here and I know I myself will be continuing to vote for him deep into the game.
