plus Barlow's voice is only OK here. Miles better than Dark Saga though.

King's X — Gretchen Goes to Nebraska (The Flash)

So that was about the easiest round to score yet.
And Cornfed can rest easy with the knowledge Skunkworks didn't advance even though State of Mind did :ninja:

I'm really curious to see how Dark Side does — the most acclaimed album by a band the forum generally loves, but if I'm reading Maidenfans correctly, not the forum's favourite by that band. Still, it looks like it has to be the favourite in this group.

Finally, +1 nomination to Gretchen Goes to Nebraska. Not because I think it has a chance, but because I absolutely loved that album when it was new, I haven't listened to it in years, and I'm really happy to see someone else likes it too. I'm off to see if I can find my CD.

The 1989-1990 era features my favourite -and generally seen as best- Running Wild album Death or Glory. Really nice guitar work and vocals as well. Here Rolf Kasparek still reached some excellent high notes. At times he sounds a bit like Blaze but then with a higher range. Many strong tracks, the epic “The Battle of Waterloo” included.

But I esteem it won't have enough support (I feel people are getting tired of listening to albums that are unknown to them) and besides: This era features my favourite Sabbath and Priest albums (they'll have enough concurrence already ;-). So no nomination; just sharing my thoughts on another classic metal album by my eastern neighbours.

Hmmmm…I realize the “two albums per time period” format is skewing the results, but to quote Bill Murray in Stripes: “There’s something wrong with us. Something very very wrong with us. Something seriously wrong with us.”

I agree that that looks very wrong indeed. But since our infamous best vs favorite discussion I just gotta remind myself that we're on the forum that we're on and people vote on what they like to listen to the most/least...Nothing else :D

And if anyone cares, among those selected albums that advanced my favorite is superunknown by far

Mob Rules
Defenders
Diver
Babies
Fighting
Kiss
Rush
Sabbath

Stronger group here but I still didn't have to think twice about my two favorites. I feel like none of these (with the exception of Houses of the Holy) are the best from the respective bands. Some are even at the weaker end of bands' discographies.

Sad to see Sheer Heart Attack with a lot of votes. Kinda wish Cox and Perun were around to help me defend some of these Queen albums. Especially Night At The Opera, which was in danger a couple times. That album would definitely be in my top ten.

Mob Rules
Screaming for Vengeance
Holy Diver
Last in Line
Billion Dollar Babies
Fighting
Houses of the Holy
Kiss
Montrose
Rush
Secret Treaties
Tyranny and Mutation

I have already voted in the morning. From those albums I did vote for Justice.

The Zep album is dreadful. I could mostly hear 30 seconds of a song and then skip. Done and a target in the next round.

Now on: Secret Treaties

Throwing a new wrinkle in there to keep things moving — Any song that has been around 10 rounds or more and scores two votes or less gets a promotion. Started that moving with Screaming and Moving Pictures.

Mob Rules
Defenders
Diver
Sabbath
Treaties
Headless cross
Razor
Sonic temple
Twilight World
Millionaire

If that Bruce album lasts more than one round, then for the first time, I'll agree with the notion that some of those albums only do well because Bruce is on them. While I enjoy listening to it from time to time, TM is little more than an average Glam Metal album. I imagine most people on here would completely disregard/hate it if it was by someone else.

Did I really second a Rammstein album?!

Either you put that I did on accident or I somehow nominated it on accident. Either way, I'd like to take that seconding back :D

I'll second Muse though

Even though I understand this move, it leaves me wondering about the special (lucky?) position Mob Rules has at the moment.

Mckindog, am I wrong with the following?
It has no concurrents for its era anymore. In theory, later on it could be promoted as the 3rd album from that 1981-1982 era, while only two albums from the best era (1983-1984) might go through because none of these would have 10 rounds with two votes. So, because other albums were so successful, the third can also have an advantage.

EDIT:
On the other hand, I don't know how many albums still can get through. Maybe there's more room and who knows 4 1983-1984 could get promoted.

Reading the 2000-2004 list I had quite a WTF moment because I hadn't noticed before that Blaze was not present in this survivor.

I nominate:

Blaze - Silicon Messiah (2000)

I am amazed that it wasn't in already. Certainly up to par with anything Adrian ever did and also better than Tattooed Millionare and dozens of non-Maiden-related albums (*waves to Cornfed and Sixes*) we've seen in this game. Maybe it's off the radar because of all the other Blaze and other Maiden member activities in the last years. Also, this album came out 13 years ago, so it's not like we're still talking about it everyday. Then again: it also might be the least criticized album ever made by a Maiden member. I am afraid people tend to overlook it for all kinds of reasons apart from the right one, because I have hardly seen negative comments on it.
