I nominate:

Samson – Head On (1980)
200px-Samson_head_on.jpg

Not an instant classic, but it has lots of variety, some nice hooky riffs and there’s a lot of weird stuff going on. Quite an adventurous mix of melodic and heavy stuff.

Just a note, Dog. The spoiler says 79/80 and the bit of text above it says 00/04 ;)

Not many I can think of that you haven't got, if any I'd prob go with
Dire Straits - Making Movies
Rainbow - Down to Earth

But I'd not be sure of eithers chance :P Shame live albums cant go in cos Strangers in the Night is awesome.

I'd like to put in a plug for Empire. Might not be raw enough for the taste of some, but what a smart, polished, well-performed, well-produced, hard rock album with enough metal and progressive flourishes to keep it interesting. Tate might be pissing on his legacy now, but his performances here are incredible.

I am not listening to people who vote for Headless Cross. ;)

It's my favorite QR album. I love it.

Headless
Diver
Ashes
Audioslave
Master of the Moon
Vapor Trails (what is this even doing here)

Surprisingly good group. I once again have two clear favorites though. Blackwater Park and Horror Show. And these are definitely among the best of their respective bands (The latter being my favorite IE album).

Rules are here:
http://forum.maidenfans.com/threads/best-album-ever-survivor.25528/

Eliminated last round: Ashes of the Wake, Audioslave, Awaking the Fallen, In Absentia, Killing the Dragon, Leviathan, Magica, Master of the Moon, Toxicity, Vapour Trails

Advancing to the Playoffs: Defenders of the Faith, Ride the Lightning, Sin After Sin, Painkiller* (I realize this has only been in the game two rounds, but after back-to-back zeroes, it will be advancing)

1979/80 enters the game

Holy Diver
Headless Cross
Resurrection
Ace of Spades
Black Rose
Blizzard of Oz
Highway to Hell
Women and Children

1980 has so many awesome albums.

This is it, the final round of the preliminaries.
After this, eras get thrown out the window. We will reseed albums and they will enter the playoffs based on how much support they got during the preliminary rounds.

Remember, because of the number of wildcard spots available, a majority of these albums will be advancing.
Vote for the ones you think have no business being in the playoffs and/or to push them into worse seeds.

Holy Diver
Last in Line
Headless Cross
Horror Show
Black Rose
Blizzard of Ozz
British Steel
Highway to Hell
Lovedrive
Women and Children First

At last, the bloodbath. From the new era, I'm voting against everything except the two AC/DC albums, Heaven & Hell, British Steel and Permanent Waves.

From the prior eras, I vote against everything except the two Floyds, Holy Diver and Blackwater Park. EDIT: Whoops, forgot to tick Ace of Spades -- meant to vote against it.

Awoken Broken
Balls
Highway
Holy
In Rock
Sabbath
State of Mind
Superunknown
Tyranny

All albums except Awoken Broken, Blackwater Park, The Dark Side of the Moon, Empire, Grace Under Pressure, Images and Words, In Rock and Wish You Were Here.

The albums I didn't vote for: Wish You Were Here, Superunknown, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Night of The Stormrider, In Rock, Highway To Hell, Dark Side of The Moon, Burnt Offerings
