I nominate:

Samson – Head On (1980)

Not an instant classic, but it has lots of variety, some nice hooky riffs and there’s a lot of weird stuff going on. Quite an adventurous mix of melodic and heavy stuff.

Not many I can think of that you haven't got, if any I'd prob go with
Dire Straits - Making Movies
Rainbow - Down to Earth

But I'd not be sure of eithers chance :P Shame live albums cant go in cos Strangers in the Night is awesome.
 
I'd like to put in a plug for Empire. Might not be raw enough for the taste of some, but what a smart, polished, well-performed, well-produced, hard rock album with enough metal and progressive flourishes to keep it interesting. Tate might be pissing on his legacy now, but his performances here are incredible.

It's my favorite QR album. I love it.

Surprisingly good group. I once again have two clear favorites though. Blackwater Park and Horror Show. And these are definitely among the best of their respective bands (The latter being my favorite IE album).

After this, eras get thrown out the window. We will reseed albums and they will enter the playoffs based on how much support they got during the preliminary rounds.

Remember, because of the number of wildcard spots available, a majority of these albums will be advancing.
