Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

It has been used at least once in concert.

EDIT : This is Beast On The Road tour, but the Ibanez RS315 was released in 1983. In 1982 Adrian and Davey were sponsored by Ibanez, this is probably a prototype model ?
Could be a loaned prototype. In the pre Steve Vai JEM days, Ibanez was quite desperate to land endorsers and was lending them guitars. Sometimes they only played them at Japanese shows. I think there was a similar case with Ace Frehley a few years earlier.

Ibanez was producing quality Explorer copies (called Destroyers) in the late 70's and they were actually better than Gibsons at the time. One was famously used by Edward on more than half of VH I. So, as the tradition goes, if a copy is better than the original, a lawsuit happens. So, Ibanez changed the design to Destroyer II, but only produced higher-quality ones for the Japanese market (Adrian's is one of them). Why they did so is beyond me.

There were also some obscure models like the Steve Lukather signature, despite him rarely touching one and preferring his Valley Arts Robot at that time. Mid 80's were strange endorsement-wise, especially at Ibanez. And then in 1987 the JEM and RG happened. Rest is history.

So, in short, I'd say it's a loaned prototype. Also, if I see correctly, it's a hardtail. Adrian's has a tremolo.

Once again, thanks for the details.

Just found this somewhere in Reverb. It's, apparently, the Gibson Les Paul Dennis Stratton used in his Maiden days and It says that he recorded the first album with It.

Does anybody know which pickups are those? It doesn't say anything in the description. Also asking for 31k euros for this guitar is insane. And looks like someone paid It which is even more insane.

Yeah seems legit. Here is the Reverb listing https://reverb.com/item/44890107-19...t-owned-by-dennis-stratton-former-iron-maiden

Letter of authenticity, photos of Dennis using it. $30k+ (its $56k in my currency!) is probably a fair sum for a guitar like that - it's is written as being used to record Iron Maiden debut, so owning it - that's pretty awesome for a fan.

In 1979 Dennis Stratton joined the upcoming band “Iron Maiden” and the iconic album “Iron Maiden” was recorded and released the same year.

This beautiful Les Paul Custom, was played on that first iconic Iron Maiden album, famous for songs such as “Running Free” and “Phantom of the Opera”.
It was a breakthrough album for Iron Maiden, making there mark in the heavy metal world. This guitar was used to record that first album and was used on all Maiden gigs, TV appearances and tours from 1979-1980.
Maiden we’re regulars at the famous Ruskin Arms E6 where the guitar was played at all performances (see YouTube).

The Les Paul can be seen when “Iron Maiden” featured on “top of the pops” in March 1980 when Maiden played “Running Free”.

It's noted in the listing that it was refinished in the 90's

In the 1990’s the guitar was refinished from Sunburst to a beautiful Faded Orange by the renowned guitar refinisher, Dick Knight Workshops of Addleston, UK.
Ah, didn't read the add... Makes sense.

Im in doubt about this Strat. As far as I remember this Strat was used by Davey around the Brave New World era along with the cream, but I remembered this to be the exact hot Rails configuration as the cream, I didn't remember the black pickup. Maybe this is another different? Everything fits, except the bridge pickup colour.

Maybe my memory is bad.

Anyway, beautiful guitar as well.

Bridge pickup died mid tour and was replaced by a black one in 2003. As simple as that.

It's the same Floyd Rose Classic Strat from RIR. Now it actually has 3 white pickups again.

So it has 3 hot rails as it was originally? Or it got a JB junior as the middle pickup as his signature model?

Does anyone know what practice amps does Adrian use backstage? I think he has a different one now, but I was wondering about the smaller one. Could that be a solid state combo from the MG series?

I think on the first leg of TFP tour he was using an MG15 or 30 with built in effects, but the second leg it's a Marshall AVT50 - I think possibly a special edition as you can see in some of the recent clips on Instagram etc. that it has the UK flag emblem in the bottom corner of the grill cloth, which the standard models don't have. Basic model below though, and as pointed out above he's also using an HX effects.

HX must have become a pretty big part of H's rig - as he mentioned that if he changes anything in the warm-up room backstage he just gets his tech to change it in the main rig. I remember he was using it on the Smith Kotzen tour so must have been happy with it. Still waiting on the elusive H rig rundown...
