2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia (Maidenfans WC Pool inside)

Uruguay didn't win their first match since 1970.

Egypt stats in World Cups of the past:

1934:
Hungary - Egypt: 4-2

1990:
Netherlands - Egypt: 1-1
Ireland - Egypt: 0-0
England - Egypt: 1-0

Egypt with Salah >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Egypt without Salah. I hoped he would play... alas.

Up next: Morocco vs Iran!

Morocco World Cup history:
1970: did not win a match
1986: their best tournament: they won 1 match vs Portugal with 3-1. And qualified for the round of 16 where they lost from West Germany
1994: did not win a match
1998: they won 1 match vs Scotland with 3-0

Iran appeared in 1978, 1998, 2006 and 2014.
They only won one match. Versus the USA in 1998: 2-1.

Iran has the Eredivisie (Dutch "premier" league) topscorer among them: Alireza Jahanbakhsh

Other Dutch connections in this match:

Morocco:
Hakim Ziyech (Ajax) & Karim El Ahmadi (Feyenoord) play.
Mbark Boussoufa (born in Amsterdam) and Nordin Amarabat (from Naarden) also play. Sofyan Amrabat (Feyenoord) starts on the bench.

Iran:
Reza Ghoochannejhad (SC Heerenveen) starts on the bench.

And yet, Iran is one of the most successful Asian football nation ever, having won the Asian cup three times and getting in the semis five times. Only Japan has done better, and I think only Japan has qualified for more World Cups too (not sure about this one, though). Yeah, football in Asia sucks big time.
