2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia (Maidenfans WC Pool inside)

It's the first time at the World Cup that both finalists have avoided both Brazil and Germany.

The last two finals were only decided in extra time. In 2006 the Italian Materazzi was the last one who found the net in regular playing time.

For the 9th time (at 21 World Cups) two European countries play the final.

France won three out of five previous duels vs Croatia, twice it became a draw. The first meeting was the semi-finals at the 1998 World Cup (2-1 for France).

Out of their last 14 knockout matches at the World Cup, France lost only one: against Germany in the quarter-finals in 2014.

Croatia is the thirteenth country that is in the World Cup final. With 4.2 million inhabitants (Paris has three times as much) Croatia is, after Uruguay, the 'smallest' World Cup finalist.

The final in the Luzhniki stadium is the 900th game in World Cup history.

Something also found his chest in that match:

I'm torn on this match. I'd love to see Croatia win but I have France in my office sweepstake.
