18th Studio Album discussion

Looks like pattern is real:
DOD-AMOLAD - 3 years
AMOLAD-TFF - 4 years
TFF-TBOS - 5 years
TBOS-SJ - 6 years
SJ-18th - possible 7 years, so 2028

With that pace, 18th could be their last, cause with their cycle of album tour-hits tour, next album won't come before 2033, at the time when they're deep in their 70s, not really expecting more than 18 from them unfortunately.
Well said. When they released Senjutsu in 2021, I thought they could release at least 2 more albums until 2030, but now we are discussing if we can get one more, if Steve wants to record, if Dave wants to retire, etc. Assuming they release #18 in 2028, with that pace, album 19 should come in 2036, which is a distant dream...

I still think that 2027 is the year for a recording. Bruce can tour and record with maiden and the others usually are free

I just hope that in 2028 or whatever year it will be, Maiden brings us something really special. Possibly the longest album, with longest song, different themes, pushing the boundaries and so on. Cause, for example from TFF to TBOS, in my opinion there is a big step up in overall feel. Those are my 2 least favorite reunion albums, but feeling between them is way different. TBOS brought somehow "wow" effect that BNW brought. SJ just came more consistent than TBOS, but didn't feel like Maiden evolved over the 6 years (4 in terms of recording). I hope that new album will feel that fresh and new to make the wait worth.

I like SJ i feel it is close to BNw and AMOLAD stronger than book of souls for sure

I don't really subscribe to this theory. TBOS-SJ only became 6 years because of COVID. I'm fairly sure that I read something here on the forums too about there having supposed to be a full-fledged Senjutsu album support tour and a full-fledged Somewhere in Time retrospect tour before it got combined to what was The Future Past tour.

Senjutsu tour became TFP tour because of Covid. I said this before... I think the focus on SIT grew simply from Bruce and Nicko wanting to do Stranger and Alexander live badly. Also, they wanted to represent Senjutsu ASAP after release, so they did the first 3 tracks during LOTB and afterwards did the hybrid TFP.

I believe the original plan was to do Senjutsu tour with 6 or 7 new songs and include Stranger and Alexander in the setlist.

My least favorite reunion era album is TFF. I would place Senjutsu after BNW, DOD and AMOLAD. I liked Senjutsu more than BOS because i felt it's a lot more varied and overall, has a stronger set of songs. The title track of BOS is amazing though and only Parchment comes close to the epic feel of that song in my opinion.

What i don't want to see in the new album is the same rehashed acoustic intro by Janick. Dream of Mirrors, Legacy, Talisman and Time Machine is more than enough.

I dont think there was a somewhere in time tour in minds but was a good way to play the rest of SJ albim and rare songs
