18th Studio Album discussion

I am repeating myself, but I am in the view that they should retire after this tour. I am not being a negative Norman, but I have my reasons.
  • The band clearly have no desire to return to the studio.
  • I believe that the reunion era songwriting tropes have been exhausted.
  • Hell on Earth is probably the best closer of the reunion era (alongside Thin Line…). It’s the best ending to a recording career they could have.
  • Although this tour has flaws, it’s a fantastic celebration of their ‘classic era’.
  • Without serious accommodations, Bruce’s voice will continue to get more grating live. In his lower register he sounds great, but his upper register is getting more strained by the day.

Maiden got me into music. I teach music for a living. You could say that they have had a massive I part of my life. But I feel that they should step down and go out on a high rather than milking it out.

Bring on the hate mail!

No hate of course, but I really don't understand how you can know this, without sitting in their heads or having access to the devices where they might have recorded new song ideas.

Would you want Bruce to stop his solo touring too?

I understand the love for the song, but to me, it sounds way too generic, like most Adrian songs.

But that in turn means there is room for improvement. (Contrary to what some people write, that there can be no further improvement after Senjutsu).
Maybe next time he'll come up with something really adventurous. No one can know. So much changes, even unexpectedly.

Nobody knows anything man miss, but this forum is all about pretending we are in their heads to give an opinion.

Sure (I am a lady by the way). I just find some assumptions plausible because of hints and things band members said, and sometimes I don't understand how people arrived at them.
For example that "The band clearly have no desire to return to the studio.", with Bruce's interest in a new Maiden album and with Steve's remarks that could be both just be a diversionary tactic as well as the truth.

They haven’t been in the studio as a band for nearly 7 years. I think that is pretty good evidence to suggest that they don’t have a particular desire to be in the studio together.

Yeah and even those sessions had their fair share of grumbling (from Nicko at least) since not everyone was as enthusiastic about heading back in the studio in the middle of winter in Paris. I would honestly not be surprised if it turned out that it's really only Bruce who has any real interest in a new Maiden album left, especially after Steve's comments.

I also have a hunch the reason Senjutsu had no Davey co-write on it wasn't because his stuff wasn't good enough, but rather he didn't actually write anything since it seems he's been content only playing the guitar while on tour for quite some time now.
