There couldn’t have been a better song to close an album/discography than Hell on Earth. If Steve can’t top that, let Senjutsu be their last.
Yes, but is it possible to top a song like Hell On Earth?
I am optimist and think that they will record new album in 2027. From there it can go two ways. Either release new album in spring 2028 and tour with it in summer and autumn and 2029.
Or what I think is more likely - tour 2028 summer with songs from BNW to Senjutsu (RFYL part ll) and one song from new album (+couple of classics) with release of new album in fall 2028. And then tour new album 2029-2930. That's usually what they have done and would have done with Senjutsu if Covid hadn't change their plans - one new song for LotB third leg with autumn release. At least that is what I'm hoping for. Would really love to see Brave New World and Dance of Death live one day.
The album could be released in the fall of 2027 or early 2028 before a summer tour. It's an option for the future, but if they wanted to do a Part 2 of the current tour, they would have done it in 2027.
The best option is - a
hybrid tour again for 2 years with: new album/Reunion era/usual hits. Then 2030 a new tour. I doubt Blaze songs.
I’d love that. Let’s see whether that’s what a group of guys in their early 70s by then can pull it off… really wish they weren’t stringing out the album part so much.
Yeah... but 2027 for a new album is a normal course for them, considering their habits since 2006.
I could also imagine that there is a connection between the announcement of the tour break in 2027 and Steve's comments—so that not too many fans realize that 2027 is supposed to be reserved for the album.
Hmm, I doubt it. We expect them to write a new album during such a break.
It's just that ending everything with RFYL is going out with a bang! There's obviously a reason for releasing both art book and documentary in time for the NA tour and not earlier. They need to be on everyone's lips if they are going to sell out stadiums. And I think they will succeed. And after that, with a big break inbetween, are they going to tour with BNW -> Senjutsu? Tour with a new album? It's going to be a struggle if you're not doing some special thing with their most loyal fanbase. I would love more music but to be honest, ending it with RFYL is perfect in every way.
I get what you're trying to say, RFYL is like their biggest (not ultimate) Hits tour, but Maiden's Reunion era is
too important. They don't need another special tour to sell out big shows after 2027 (and this tour is more special because of the new stage set, unlike LOTB ), new material with old classics is normal, as always. And there will be an appetite. The last 3 tours are special.
The funny thing about this is that Maiden has already demonstrated how to do this. There’s no reason why they can’t use a Legacy of the Beast type of setlist to cover the entire career, include a few new songs, and then in the next leg cycle them out for another set of new songs (instead of going the Future Past route and doing a new tour entirely). This is the only realistic way for them to keep touring and release new music imo.
This is possible - and because if they continue to use screens. But let's see what they'll do, Maiden like their tours/stages/sets to be
unique.
I understand the love for the song, but to me, it sounds way too generic, like most Adrian songs.
It seems shorter rockers are easy to be called generic. Writing is one of their interesting ones, which is always good.
They haven’t been in the studio as a band for nearly 7 years. I think that is pretty good evidence to suggest that they don’t have a particular desire to be in the studio together.
Which is sad for a band like Maiden who always say they want to move forward with new music. They lost 2 years though. Bruce probably has the most desire. Then Adrian or Steve.
I also have a hunch the reason Senjutsu had no Davey co-write on it wasn't because his stuff wasn't good enough, but rather he didn't actually write anything since it seems he's been content only playing the guitar while on tour for quite some time now.
Or Steve's didn't work on his ideas because he wrote 4 long songs on his own for the first time since 1998. It's also possible that Dave's ideas weren't that strong or Steve didn't have the needed time to combine 2 or 3 ideas into one. They have a writing and recording window, which wouldn't be the case if they do it in 2027 (even with Nicko), more or less. It's time for Dave to return with a writing credit.
