Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

Other thing. It would be lovely to see H play all the drop D songs from this tour with the Destroyer to make the thing more interesting. I love the Jackson but the Destroyer needs more appearances IMO.

That's actually what Steve Morse did with his main purple sunburst Music Man.
Cool! Didn’t know that. I’m constantly impressed by how much knowledge you have on guitars/guitarists.

I was thinking about EVH doing the same with a double cream humbucker in his Black and Yellow Charvel

For Clairvoyant, he needs the trem. Others, he could.
Yeah Clairvoyant is an exception, I didn’t take into account that H needed the tremolo, but for example he used his x-stroyer for Fear of the Dark during TBOS for some nights (I think Wacken was one of them) so it would be interesting to see the Destroyer for Fear (for example) since it is one of the drop D songs. And also RTTH, since he used it on the video and would fit the song perfectly.

Exactly. Or just white on white, like the original pickguard of the black 70's Strat was at the start of TBOS tour.
I kind of like how it looks. I like the black Strat better not with the original pickguard.

This.
Cali Series Strat was used on encores too last night.
It will become Dave's main guitar again?

Since I have a bit of time, am a guitarist and have done a lot of searching on this topic I decided to post about gutars used by the Maiden guitarists through the years live. Let's start with Dave:

Dave Murray:

Early days: -1981

Main Guitar:
-1957 Stratocaster, bought from Paul Kossoff's estate, painted black with pickguard and routed for humbuckers (DiMarzio PAF in neck position and DiMarzio Super Distortion in bridge and a single coil in the middle).
Backups:
-1964 Stratocaster, black with black pickguard routed for humbuckers.
-Various Les Pauls
Beast On The Road
Main Guitar:
-1957 Stratocaster
Backups:
-Ibanez Destroyer II in Sunburst finish (Total Eclipse, Hallowed, The Prisoner)
-*possibly* 1964 Stratocaster
World Piece Tour:
Main Guitar:
-1957 Stratocaster
Backups:
-Dean Flying V (Wrathchild, Die With Your Boots On)
-1964 Stratocaster, at this time with white pickguard and same electronics as 1957 Stratocaster
-70's Sunburst Stratocaster (ruined in Dortmund, used on Iron Maiden)
-Les Paul Standard with higly figured top
-White Stratocaster, year unknown
World Slavery Tour:
Main Guitars:
-1957 Stratocaster
-1964 Stratocaster, newly fitted with Kahler tremolo system
Brilliant rundown but I have a question about the '64 Strat with the black scratch plate used in the Running Free & Women in Uniform vids. It seems you are referring this to be the same '64 that has the Kahler in LAD but it has a Rosewood fingerboard where the aforementioned one has a maple, did it have a neck change?.

I also noticed that in some early footage there is a Strat that looks like the '57 but hasn't got the pickup rings & has an angled bridge pickup. I wondered if this was the '64 Black on Black with a different scratch plate?

I think I messed that one up. That 64 actually wasn't a 64, but a CBS-era Strat.1979 one. Dave switched the pickguards between it and the Kossoff one multiple times. I think that the angled pickup was to compensate for it not being F-spaced. When DiMarzio released F-spaced pickups, Dave put those into Kossoff Strat.

The '79 was sold to Matt's guitar shop.

So was it the '57 in the videos with the black scratch plate then?

A 57’ strat would have come from the factory with a single ply white pickguard - the mint green 3-ply version didn’t come along until 59’.

I think there was some discussion about the Kossoff strat being a partscaster with a 60’s body and 50’s neck.

Kossoff's Strat was indeed a partscaster. I think it's a 63 body and a 57 neck.

Yes. Pickguards moved between those 2 guitars. The 57 never had the original pickguard and still doesn't (it was SSS and mint green, see Free's performance of My Brother Jake).
Great, thanks for the info.

The other question i have is about the LAD Kahler Strat. I've read a few sources that say that guitar now has a Floyd on it but have never to my knowledge seen a photo of it. I also read he toured it again. Do you what happened to it & pickups it has now?

It is Floyded now and was since I think No Prayer On The Road. There was a photo of the original Signature Strat prototype, the 64 and the black FR Classic Strat from 2013 when Dave was apparently thinking about going on tour with those. All were Floyded and all had H-S-H configurations with DiMarzios. Ultimately, Davey went back to Hot Rails and the FR Classic Strat was reverted to Hot Rails. The other 2 were not seen again.

Yes, I saw that you mentioned that. I can't seem to find that photo. However, you mentioned that it may have been used on No Prayer on the Road. I was at that tour & have the program so will have a look.
