Eddies Wingman said:When it comes to Dave and Adrian, it is clear that Adrian has evolved more than Dave since the 80s and is probably the most technically proficient of the two.
Eddies Wingman said:In addition his solos are often more thoughtfully composed, which I appreciate.
Eddies Wingman said:However, when it comes to how they sound, I value them equally. In most of their classic duels (like for example Rime), I can't really say I like one solo more than the other.
Forostar said:Agreed. Especially on the latest album he has shown how well he composed his solos. Not only more quantity than Janick and Dave, but also more quality. I wouldn't say that of the previous albums, but this time I really noticed it.
Forostar said:You prefer Downing over Tipton? Interesting. I bet you're not the only one.
E.g. his stuff in "Sinner", "Jawbreaker" and most other solos from Defenders of the Faith, plus his solo in "Between the Hammer and the Anvil" (which is for me a top-5 Priest solo of all times) is excellent.
I omit many other examples but these are the ones I thought of right now.
However, the deliveries of Tipton on "Painkiller", "Here Come The Tears" and "Beyond the Realms of Death" are at least as (if not more) famous.
Well, I love both guitarists, but I didn't want to mention two Priest guys when I want to cover the whole spectrum of metal, or music in general.
