The song as a whole is not much based on Odyssey but clearly references it.

Nightwish weren’t referencing Odysseus though, even though that’s what one first thinks of. “Who tied my hands to the wheel?” really refers to how the song of the sirens captivates its listener, setting them on a course to their destruction — and tying their hands to the wheel. It’s a very clever subversion of expectations.

I’m not surprised that Lord of the Flies is leading the tally, as it’s a commonly assigned book in schools. But I am very surprised that so few have read The Odyssey. Everyone should read it. It’s entertaining and still heavily influences modern culture and art. Case in point:
