What are the least memorable Maiden songs?

Ah, The Prodigal Son. While some parts are pretty easy to remember ("oh Lamia, please, try to help meee"), I can sort of agree about it being one of the least memorable Maiden songs for the most part.

However, I wouldn't say it's really a bad song by any means, or even one of the very worst by the band. It's pretty enjoyable with some interesting ideas around. It's like one of those 2,5 or 3/5 movies; enjoyable to watch when you feel like it or come across it, but nothing too memorable or exciting to really feel like something you'd want to revisit on a regular basis, since there's so many more favorable options to go with.

Hardcore Killers fans may disagree though, but hey, I said that I actually kinda like the song. ;)

Well, apparently Caught Somewhere in Time as they never seem to have performed this live apart from on the album-promoting tour? Am I missing something? This is a frikken awesome song, fact. They even performed Moonchild back in 2008, how did they miss this...?!?
CSIT unfortunately didn't really work as a live song in the 80s and it probably wouldn't work in 2019 either.

The general consensus is that people and the band don't want Nicko to collapse and die on the stage, so unfortunately CSIT cannot be played

Moonchild is a song that was so well written and tight the band recorded it in a single take. CSIT is a fantasy song, constructed in a studio in such a way that it was never successfully reproduced live.

The non-reproducibility of SIT songs live isn't as big of an indictment on SIT as you think it is, LC.

It's an argument against the album that I see you make pretty often. It doesn't mean all that much. Yes, SIT is a piece of studio magic, and?

And it explains why those songs aren't seen very often after the album tour (and indeed, why only 4 songs from the album made the album tour).

Stranger in a Strange Land could easily be played again, I'm not sure why they don't tbh
Because of Adrian's dad who passed away in '99 while Maiden as on tour. SIASL was his favorite song and they dropped it because of his death. Adrian probably wouldn't mind playing it now 20 years later though.

CSIT, Wasted Years, Heaven Can Wait, Sea of Madness, Stranger in a Strange Land. That makes 5 + Loneliness which was played once.
I stand corrected.

I agree, great song and certainly not too hard to do live.
It would be a good tribute to his dad to play it in his memory
That would be up to Adrian, not to us.

I thought that was basically confirmed to be conjecture/a fan friendly explanation preferable to "Steve doesn't like how it sounds live"? That was my impression, at least. I know they did drop it in 1999 for the three shows Adrian missed due to his dad's funeral but that's not necessarily indicative of a connection in itself - all it means is that in Adrian's absence nobody in the band seemed too keen on playing it.

Yeah that might be it. Anyways, it's very unlikely that they'll ever play it again.

"SIASL" is a very good representative of the Somewhere in Time album: though very enjoyable on record, most songs do not translate that well (and sound a bit plodding) in a live context, except for "Heaven Can Wait" and "Wasted Years". I find it particularly striking when listening to the bootleg named The Greediness: the beginning of "SIASL" (after "Children of the Damned") spells beer/pee break.
