Vancouver '10 Games

It was about time, wasn't it?

Our two female biathletes didn't do any better, btw - 5 misses and they ended 10th and 18th. However, I don't have a hard time congratulating Magdalena Neuner () on her second win in these Olympics.

Finally, we actually got a surprising bronze medal. Audun Grønvold finished 3rd in the ski cross final!

PS: Russia beat the Czechs 4-2 and win group B after all. I think they defended very well - the Czechs were only threatening in power play, and towards the end when they were throwing everything they had at the Russians.

Fantastic match between Canada and USA. I've never seen anything like the American empty net goal before.

I got up early today to watch the last two periods of Sweden vs Finland. I've rarely seen a team have so good control in their own defensive zone as the Swedish had today. The Finns hardly produced anything that could be seen as dangerous, not even in power play. I guess if these two teams meet again later in the Olympics, there will be one Finnish team hell bent for vengeance. Towards the end, they were really anemic.

Too bad Canada vs USA was at such a crappy time for us Europeans, it sounds like it was a cracking game.

Gold medal for Ireen Wüst on the 1500m!  :yey:

She started too slow in the 1000m, too fast in the 3000m, and now it went perfect!

As one of the Norwegian commentators said during the game between Sweden and Finland: "One of these teams (Canada or Russia, my remark) are going to go out early and be labeled a scandal". His co-commentator asked what the victorious team would be called. The answer? "A semi-finalist"  :D

I officially hate NBC. They built up Sunday as "Super Sunday" specifically because of the three hockey games yet only show ONE! And not even the US vs Canada game. After the Czech-Russia game they went to yet more skiing and biathlon and didn't even cut that to show the games.... Boy do I want to beat up Bob Costas and his crew...

A giant " Plus One" to that!  I hate that they have an entire day to show good material and miss it.  And it really annoys me that I need CNBC or MSNBC to catch some of the coverage (and I don't have them).  I wish they would at least show different coverage in their late night show.  But I think their 11pm (central) showing is just a repeat of what happened earlier. bah.

I just can't get how bad your coverage is in the states. We have literally 4 basic cable and 2 extended cable channels dedicated to covering the events. It boggles my mind.

Foro, we may see a repeat of Turin, but Canada might come back. They may have needed a loss to pull together. But, admittedly, I expect them to go down to Russia now. I think all of Canada does. They have to prove they can play together.

Well, where I am at, I can't get cable.  I'm stuck with satellite ... and I canceled my satellite, cause it just got too expensive.

Yeah, I do and can stream.  And I do when I can.  I really need to get that mini-dvi to dvi cable so I can watch it on the tv rather than my lappy.

Indeed!

Hey, did you all know that the medals, when all are put together, create some sort of design?  An 'aboriginal mosiac' I think; I heard something while listening today.

Wait... so when all 86 medals get put together you get an Orca? That is pretty sweet. Though I would have preferred Oggie :)

I thought they said there were 200ish medals; the pic is uesd with a combo of gold, silver and bronze.  Due to that, no two medals are alike.
