USA Politics

I seen someone on twitter saying that there's this right wing social media app that I can't remeber the name of, and while it was happening about half the posts on the app were people saying "this is fake news, it's a false flag anti-fa operation" and the other half were people posting selfies of them rioting "saying look at me, this is us"

There's some quality double think going on. Another recent example is "Covid-19 is a hoax, and btw China brought it upon us to hurt our economy".

Recent as in related to things currently going on, not necessarily from the last couple of weeks. I was considering including another prime example, neo-Nazis who both claim the Holocaust didn't happen and that the Jews had it coming - and the covid example is recent compared to that.

Btw, when we're at the topic of extremists. Two Norwegians who were both active in the "Workers' Communist Party" in the late 70s, a party supportive of Mao, are now found, respectively, as the leader of an Islamic community (and outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime) and as the chief editor of an alt-right "news" and opinion website (which has, of course, supported all Trump's claims of election fraud). Illustrates how some people are dragged towards the extremes.

The resignations are coming in. Elaine Chao is the most high profile I've seen so far, a member of the cabinet and Mitch McConnell's wife.
Yeah, they’re obviously all very honorable people, who didn’t see the disaster coming, who were always against Trump’s lies and never supported them.
The rats are deserting the sinking ship.

We are growing concerned over the current situation developing in the United States.

The U.S. President is mentally under siege. This has been going on for the last four years. This is not unusual in U.S. politics, but has been noticeably more extreme this Presidential term.

We will not get into the politics of who is causing what, who is responsible, or who is right or wrong. We are only looking at the current situation.

At this time, the U.S. President is feeling betrayed, abandoned, and cornered. This can lead people in this situation to react without clear thinking, to respond instinctively rather than rationally.

Under the current circumstances, we feel it is possible for the U.S. President to misread an emerging situation and not react rationally. It is also possible that adversaries may see the situation as an opportunity as the U.S. is distracted.

At this time, we see no movements by any actor which may be cause for concern.

We are merely issuing this statement to advise the public of our concern. We would issue this statement if any leader of a nuclear power were displaying the same symptoms.

We will continue to monitor and advise as necessary.

On the one hand it’s fair (finally), and truly deserved. On the other hand it will force even more right-leaning people onto Parler and Safechat and make them even more susceptible to information siloing and Big Lies.
