USA Politics

That was probably just hacking some poorly secured forum. The only thing that happens after defacing a police website, is that police will use your money on security consulting and a new web site project, job will be done by a same breed of monkeys that made it in a first place, and all you get is wasted money. Or you can just accept the fact that defacing a police site is a grafitti-level "crime" and move on.

Why would you be worried about it, Loose? They‘ve published the identities of over 300 KKK members in 2015, for example. Right, Perun? Anyways, I don‘t know for sure if the video is real etc., but I predict Trump‘s gonna lose the election.

Right. They did this one thing where they published information that was poorly secured and probably only led to the KKK guarding their information better. As far as I know, it's still around and racial violence in the US is still a thing.
I followed Anonymous for a while after they published a very serious, very dramatic video during the 2009 Iran protests telling the protesters you are not alone, we are with you, we are legion, etc... and found that's all they do. They publish dramatic videos which give you the impression that revolution is imminent and they're about to bring the system down, then all that happens is that a website is down for an hour, or maybe for a day. Not hurting anyone. Around Guy Fawkes Day the sometimes do massive social media campaigns leaving you to believe that something big, game-changing is about to happen and then on 6 November you wake up and realise the system is still there and as safe as ever. The biggest thing they ever did was make some people camp outside Wall Street one autumn, and Wall Street did not exactly tremble.
I'd not even be so critical if they were just gathering their forces or starting to gain experience, but this has been going on exactly this way for over a decade. It's all talk and no action.

Trump's great strength lies in deflection. And the fact that does things a sane person would not. He already argued against mail voting, so I wouldn't put it past him to postpone the election if he's down too much. I think he's intentionally sowing the seed.

I think Trump loses if some combination of the following happens:
  • Coronavirus pandemic enters a second wave or the first wave continues
  • The economy stays the same or gets worse.
Trump wins if either of the following happens:
  • coronavirus goes away or a vaccine comes out by election and is distributed across the country
  • The economy improves dramatically and unemployment goes down.
Things that will have little effect (or be a wash):
  • Anything Joe Biden says or does
  • The current riots/protests
  • Mail in voting status

I‘m not here to defend Anonymous or to win this argument, Perun. But do you think Trump will survive the election now?

I'm not here to win an argument either, I'm just giving you my opinion based on my observations. Do I think Trump will win the election? I don't know. Very much speaks against him right now, but there still are a few months in which a lot can happen, and Biden is probably the worst candidate the Democrats could have chosen. I don't think Anonymous will have any impact either way.

There are hard limits on what he can do here, since the ends of congressional and executive terms are called out in the constitution. Barring a constitutional amendment, if the votes haven’t been cast in time, we would no longer have a House of Representatives as of Jan 3, a third of the senate would become vacant on the same day, and as of Jan 20 the president and VP would be out of office and the line of succession would kick in. Next in line would be Nancy Pelosi, but she would have already lost her job on Jan 3 with no replacement, so next would be the president pro tempore of the senate, currently Chuck Grassley, a Republican. (I’m not sure what would happen if Grassley were up for re-election this year and would also be out of a job on Jan 3 — it might fall to the most senior member of the senate who was still in their job.)

And don't forget the inevitable fuck up of a response to a hurricane. It's going to be a lively hurricane season and there could be a couple of big ones shortly before the election.

This is the turning point. People have seen Trump being dishonest again and again, there’s massive riots in what, 25 cities? He’s under massive attack because of his handling of Corona — which by the way leads to economy crisis, recession, unemployment. There are so many crises. The murder of a black guy on camera is just the last straw, and Trump is being made indirectly responsible for it (and rightly so), not least because of his preceding tweets, which were very much in the public’s perception because how Twitter and he himself handled it.
It’s too much, Trump will not get re-elected.

By the way yesterday in the live stream of SpaceX they didn’t show Trump, at least I never saw him, though today I saw photos that he was there watching the launch as well.

Read an article the protest have gon global, you guys seen anything on your local news? Here in Mexico we are also protesting, but against our president, not the U.S shitshow. Protests against AMLO in 40 different cities calling for his resignation for being as much of a liar and corrupt as those he criticized to get in power, yeah.... shocker. People are idiots.

And:

The protestors in A'dam are not worrying about local police brutality either (as of yet), while demonstrating.
