USA Politics

Here's an interesting question: we don't yet know if Donald Trump is the worst US president of all time...... Is Donald Trump the weakest president of all time?
We don't yet know the answer to either question as there are still potentially many more US presidents to come.

Depends on whatever that Russian thing is all about. If he's really Putin's bitch then yes. If no, and in that scenario I mean if he used illegal campaign funds and favours because Russians wanted to "restart" again, which Clinton wasn't going to do, then I don't know because it's hard to compare current people with people from the older ages.

Here's an interesting question: we don't yet know if Donald Trump is the worst US president of all time. He's certainly in the conversation in many ways, but can he really probe the depths of Franklin Pierce, Warren G. Harding, and James Buchanan? Only time will tell. But one question we can ask and evaluate now: is Donald Trump the weakest president of all time?
I suppose it depends on what you mean by "weak.' Weak as in his lack of experience/qualifications to hold office? Obviously, but this was already known to the American public and deemed acceptable on Election night. Weak as in his inability to avoid scandals and administration drama that stand in the way of his agenda? Possibly, but then there's Ulysses Grant. Weak as in the relative lack of support from his own party? I would actually say that it's impressive (or sad, depending on how you look at) how he has been able to get most of the party to come around on him.

Is that more important than the policy he stands for?

Even that is complicated because there's a clear discrepancy in what he actually wants to do, and what officially gets implemented from his cabinet.

Weak as in his inability to push his agenda. When you look at the keynotes of his electoral campaign - kill Obamacare, build the wall, Muslim ban, etc, a lot of them have not been done or have not been done to the extent that Trump promised.

I definitely think Obamacare repeal would've been successful with pretty much any other Republican president. Dumb comments like calling the bill "mean" or threatening Republican senators who voted against it certainly didn't help. Trump has also made more people pay attention to political issues, making it near impossible for the GOP to quietly push through unpopular legislation.

Other campaign promises would probably be easier to achieve with a stronger majority in Congress and a president who knew how to navigate political waters. So yes, he is one of the weakest in that aspects.

Today is the 17th anniversary of the World Trade Centre attacks in New York and I haven't heard anything about it all day. Last year there was a lot of coverage as His Excellency was was or wasn't attending a particular service. All I've seen this year is that the subway station has been reopened.

I remember a time when it was the Conspiracy Carnival and I went offline for the whole day because I couldn't take it anymore - every newsheadline, every other FB post had some "critical questions". I'm wondering if this has been toned down so much because conspiracy theories are everywhere now, though.

I feel it has gotten less attention/coverage every year. Especially the past 2-3 years maybe. Probably a good thing overall

American comics have started, in the last 2-3 years, to incorporate it in their stand-ups without worrying about a shitstorm as well. After all Comedy = Tragedy + Time.
