7th son at 129 and more importantly below Deja Vu tells me that this list is either trolling or just a blasphemy list in disguise. I will no longer spend my time reading it.
Well im a troll thats been around quite a long time and giving up nearly an hour a day to give people a taste of my personal maiden experience so i will be pleased to have lost you from my thread
#125 - Innocent Exile - Again really loving that early almost punk angst the band had with DiAnno, not to mention the blatant early basslines steve lay down
my mind is all confusion, cause i defied the law the only technical thing here that brings it down for me is the sound of the guitars (dont know exactly what theyre doing) but its the same style seen all over the early stuff and that detracts from songs like this that arent Killers or Wrathchild because it just makes them seem a bit thrown together. Theres no intricate floating melodies and no it wasnt the style of the period but i think in parts there would be a benefit.
#124 - Run silent Run deep - A nice haunting intro, that imo could have served brilliantly on a differently themed song

With the song somehow most of No prayer for me came out sounding very similar, i cant imagine why but i imagine it was something to do with the psychotic sound running through with respect to a characters impending doom. Bruce was really worryingly good at sounding like a serial killer but it was probably overused for my liking, still a good song though. but it becomes average here because its done in a similar style so much with it being a bit of a NPFTD running theme. Plus such songs seem too jokey on this album so i never get swept away in it however. Bruce sounds great here and the solos come off great with the song either way the flow of the song and how it begins like an attack from the
secret sleep is great but it never quite whent far enough for me. Normally when maiden transcribe a book or movie they go all out to do it justice like ROTAM but for me not here which is disappointing.
#123 - Look for the Truth - I really love the slow melodic entrance with Blaze darkly coming in overtop but also showing his more gentle end of his voice. A story begins to be made and dare i say this is a contender for the best area of music produced in the 90s by Maiden. It takes a step down when the song gets faster and louder but story is no longer interesting, the imageries gone which is disappointing and the instruments have lost the melody thus killing the intro off. The solo brings a bit back to it but overall after the start there was so much potential that just became another plodding jumpy Blaze song. Its not bad but oh so frustrating.
#122 - Drifter - This again suffers as with innocent exile of having a very 'gritty and raw' (ive penned it) guitar rythm with doesnt really seperate it from the bunch but begins to incorporate some nice energetic melody over the lot and adds to the movement of the song and begins to make it imaginable why maiden were such a treat in the early 80s. unfortunately were Exile rose this falls without very captivating story and DiAnno doesnt sound at his best and a bit too casual. This is another one thats climbed from the bottom of the barrel lately.
#121 - Futureal - Refreshingly energetic is the best description of this song but its still a bit lacklustre for me. Nice to see Blaze getting the pleasure of a fast lyric packed song to squeeze into and i think it actually quite suits him with his low voice contrasting the lighter fast flowing music behind him and its the only song i think fitted the bill of what is expected from all the imagery associated with VXI. In all it refreshing hearing Blaze exposed at fast pace and giving off energy, but the story does get lost a bit (no im never satisfied

) and a slow section to develop it wouldnt hurt plus it doesnt place well with me alongside the catalogue of Bruce fast paced rockers.
Album #14 - The X Factor
I thought this would place higher but the ratings ne'er lie and it averages out at 6.63... so just a gnats ass below my maiden average. I love its moodiness and how some of the songs so properly use Blaze in the music. It flows for me a lot better than VXI and i can enjoy it in its entireity unlike the previous album. Its downfall sadly is that while Blaze was with Maiden i dont think they ever styled his parts well enough for him to truly do his best, a few songs on the album feel like they were writing music as if Bruce were still there and so in the end the songs were never amazing with either of them. Still however a very nice album and a bit of a flawed masterpiece (the ugly duckling album i may one day appreciate as a swan)
