I'll have to listen to every album multiple times. It is going to take a long time  and I don't play guitar so I have no clue as to what they are doing, I could only tell you what I think sounds nice...

The thread is "favourite" solos --so the order, & what makes it & what doesn't, is really your own personal take on their solos anyway. Just do your "sounds nice" top 10's then! :)

Yup, I'll get to it. it might takes a long time though, simply because I need to listen to everything...And I'm on a The Beatles trip right now :D

No clue. It can take a while. I have been listening to his 1981-1984 solos. More to come and already a large group.

I know them by heart. ;-)
Seriously, I guess all H's SIT solos will make my huge shortlist. Though I am not sure about Heaven Can Wait yet.

In fact, I am going to play that one right now.

Sorry, my memory is so unreliable these days. o_O I thought he hadn't finished all three of them.

HCW: yeh, you need to give that a good listen, Forostar. A track I think people got a bit sick of. It's not that it was a "go to" for me, but after listening to it carefully, I just thought --this (lead) is a great, great piece of guitar work. Anyway, we'll leave you to your SiT listening...

Ariana, I'll get back to your disgraceful comment later... :D

Btw, just to remind you, my Janick top ten was:

1. Hallowed Be Thy Name (LIVE: Rock In Rio '01)
2. Gates Of Tomorrow
3. Afraid To Shoot Strangers
4. Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter
5. The Assassin
6. Weekend Warrior
7. Dance Of Death
8. Fortunes Of War
9. Brave New World
10. The Pilgrim

& in case you've forgotten... yours! :p

1. Blood Brothers
2. Out of the Silent Planet
3. The Legacy
4. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
5. Dream of Mirrors
6. Ghost of the Navigator
7. Sign of the Cross
8. The Talisman
9. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns
10. Lord of the Flies

In fact, I'm just looking at your ten, Ariana, & we only have one track the same --Strangers. Like Forostar's top three, I think I'm going to have to go back & listen to a few of those (in your ten), in case I overlooked something...

But there's nothing wrong with liking different solos. It means that even if you're not very fond of a solo, there still might be someone who loves it and nothing that a musician does is wasted. It is kind of comforting to know that even songs like The Fugitive are appreciated by someone somewhere. :D
