The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

Also the tempo of Powerslave is identical to the one on the album, so it could be that they are using backing track and click track just for this song.
Edit: This year they didn't use the keyboards. It was a backing track. Listen to the last "Slave to the power of death". Michael Kenney played keyboards during that part in 2008. Now the backing vocals misteriously dissapear, because that is the only part that isn't in click with the rest of the song.

Great show at Wacken, Nicko seemed to have some timing issues here and there, but the rest of the band was playing at 100% no doubt. Glad I got to see the first show in person, and the final one on stream.

I've recorded audio of Powerslave and all songs from TBoS till the end. I'm trying to do a quick mastering now... I'll share when I'm done!
Here it is:

Sorry it's incomplete but I realised I'm one press of a button away from recording in the middle of the show... I hope you like the additional mastering - you can compare it with the raw version on YouTube. IMO the sound has more energy now.

Enjoy!

Was the audio on the stream really like this youtube video?

Not complaining, but I want to know if I should wait for a better sounding version to come up or stick with this.

I think it's not as good as it was live. Arte uploads concerts afterwards. At least they did it with Hellfest. So I'll wait for that or another proper recording without menu.

They're not using a click; Nicko just uses a visual click to start off the songs now so they stay closer to the original tempos.

I'm sure they just took the master tapes, made samples, and loaded em onto one of Mike Kenney's synths so he can play them in real time.

What an excellent performance! Lots of energy from the band and the crowd was excellent. I really enjoyed Nicko's comments at the end too, lovely stuff.

I think it's a track. If the backing vocals were sampled per note, they wouldn't sound identical to record. The most possible variation of this story is that the backing vocals are triggered at the beginning of each chorus by Michael and then the whole track plays.

Loved every note from last night! What an amazing band! Who would have thought they would be having such a great time playing after all these years.

Well, maybe not every note on Poweslave. :ninja:

It's just amazing, sounded a lot better than when I saw them and I just love this setlist, one of the best I think. (Still don't think the Eddie fooloning around fits the titeltrack though, they could have put that in another song and the monkey stuff is getting very old)

Yeah I find the monkey stuff a bit cringe worthy but Bruce seems to be havin a great time so I can live with it. Just. As for the Eddie tomfoolery during BoS, I find it distracting, during one of the best musical sections of the show. But, again, its a bit of fun and the most elaborate Eddie messing in a while/ever. Just wish it wasnt during such a moody and intense part. Do it during NOTB maybe.

We need a tour announcement stat, Im looking about a 2 week holiday at end of Feb, start of March and dont want to end up away for the UK tour. I would have to cancel my holiday. And might end up stabbed in the face by my partner. Still, needs must :rocker:

Very enjoyable show. Cut out during COTD(damn), PS(BLAST) and NOTB(nevermind).
I wasn't keen on the DOG-FOTD section, HBTN and FOTD are constant live bugbears for me(do fans really want this every time?), but before this they were cooking.
Love the encore of BB and WY.
I thought Nicko was gonna announce his retirement at the end. Made me all nervous.

WOA stream was a remarkable experience especially as I wasn't able to see IM this year ... if someone has i would like to obtain Bruces intro speech to Blood (Flood lmao) Brothers.

Cheers

I really think it can be heard that it is played.

Woke up at 5am to watch the show live. I give each band member 100% for quality of performance. Bruce gets extra points for his bananas and Adrian gets extra points for his run across the stage.

Tears of a Clown and Powerslave were phenomenal. TBOS was massive! Don't think Bruce's anthropologist jacket and gloves during the second half of the song have received much analysis in this forum, but I think it's a good touch.

Thanks to Eddie and the boys for an awesome tour.

My theory on the jacket and gloves (not at all anthropologist like to my eye ball) is that he doesnt want electrocuted by the heart. I remember seeing an vid from early in the tour when he didnt wear that get up and he flinches after touching the heart. Thats my theory an im stickin to it
