The Marvel Thread (Spoilers, and language!)

"It's really good" but you were "bored as fuck for the first hour and a half"? Maybe elaborate on what exactly you did or didn't like, cause this post is sending some very mixed signals.

Maybe I over exaggerated when I said "bored as fuck" but I can see how this post is sending mixed signals. To elaborate a little:
I was going to see a Marvel blockbuster - knew the story/plot from the comics but had no clue about movie (didn't read any reviews). Looking back on previous Marvel movie releases I had my own vision of how this movie is going to look like. No matter the comic, plot is usually pretty straight forward and characters are simple so I was guessing this is going to be a same deal. It's not that I need battles, explosions etc. to make movie interesting, but Marvel has it's own formula for their movies which is going great considering critics and box offices - and that's fine by me. I enjoyed them as they are - a supehero blockbusters.

Now, this one is different. Story is very slow-paced and "action-lacking" until the airport (except fot the intro and stairwell scene), so for the whole time I was waiting when where they going to pace up and bring some action. Last movie I went to see in cinema left me disaponted so I was planing on this one to be the "eye-candy" - not complicated and fun. But as the end of the movie approached I realised that they made exactly what the comic was about - a civil war, and it positively surprised me. A litlle more complexed plot about heroes who obviously have more "layers" then it was previously shown. No villains and no world-saving-countdowns at the end of the movie. With this discovery I believe I would see the first part of the movie very differently. That being said, I can't wait for it to come on Blu-ray, I guess I'm going to enjoy it much more than the first time.

This movie was all because Tony felt bad over what happened in Whereverthefuckia.
That's racist. Poor people in Sokovia lost their entire country, be considerate.

OFF/ON topic - is this thead going to be entirely in spoiler tags?

Yeah, the movie's been out for a month, I vote we stop including spoiler tags since the thread title specifically states that spoilers exist here.

So the problem was your expectations and not necessarily the quality, @Spambot? I get that. It definitely does not conform to the exact template we've come to anticipate from most Marvel films, which is why I immediately loved it. After about 15 minutes in I realized that this movie was going to do something different and from there on in I was along for the ride.

I believe the best scenes in Dr. Strange have not been shown yet. What I am talking about is the mystical fight scenes in the other dimensions.

Just watched Captain America Civil War blu-ray with the audio commentary on. Near the end, the directors say about Steve's future
that they can't wait to show Steve in the Nomad suit which Chris Evans has just fitted. Now mind you, I don't know if they were joking...

I'm expecting Doctor Strange to be the oddest, most reflective movie in the current Marvel lineup.

Will Chris Evans be the rider that we know the least?

It will be very different and a departure from what Marvel has done so far (as GOTG was but instead of sci-fi outer space, now we will be going mystical)

Just finished AOS season premiere. When i heard that Ghost Rider would be in the show now, i thought it an odd choice. But after watching, he was handled better than I thought he would be. Although the only Ghost Rider I am familiar with is Johnny Blaze. Don't know who this guy is.
I guess this is another attempt by Marvel to introduce the mystical side of the Marvel Universe to the masses. Will be interesting to see if the series even mentions Dr Strange like they normally do when a new film releases.

BTW, Mack is an idiot for not going for Yo Yo. She wants him BAD!

I'll be interested to see how Dr Strange goes. I was reading an article about how China will not approve a movie that references mystical aspects. And, China is a big component of the dollars that Marvel has made on their movies so far. Anyway, I guess we'll see if they try to science away the magic or what to make it work in China.

As I was reading this thread, it dawned on me that about 30 years ago, I used to sit on the sofa with my friends while we read Marvel comics (I still have a huge collection of X-men, Iron Man, Avengers, and a complete to #60 something New Mutants) and listen to Maiden and Priest. This forum has become the digital representation of my childhood. Weird. Or cool. Or both.

Something we have only heard about but have not seen, is the founding of SHIELD by Howard Stark & Peggy Carter. That is a story i would like to see.

All these stuff with the dimensions makes me think Dr Strange will be a movie that I'll need to watch more than once to fully absorb it. Inception by Christopher Nolan is one of my favourites films ever and these Dr Strange trailers have many Inception vibes, so I'm almost sure I'm going to love it. Looking forward to it...
