The Marvel Thread (Spoilers, and language!)

I love you Kevin Feige

That would be incredible. Hopefully it is not the ENTIRE Civil War, but part of it. Civil War should not be in one movie.

Also, seems to confirm the Steve Rogers dying at the end of Cap 3 conversation that SMX and I had previously in the chat.

Nice comment on reddit:
people that keep thinking that the key part of Civil War is the identities of the heroes being jeopardized, it is not. At least not for heroes other than Spider-man.

The important part is that heroes disagree and take sides regarding an issue, resulting in Stark vs. Cap and many interesting/iconic fights. That is not hard to pull off in a movie with any made up issue, possibly Ultron fallout related.

Furthermore, my favourite arc in Civil War is how the Punisher gets pushed into more of a leadership role. I hope this means we will see the Punisher in the MCU soon. He is a badass motherfucker.

I really liked Spiderman's storyline in civil war, especially the first couple arcs he had afterwards. I know it's a pipe dream but I'd love to see him in this. At this point it seems impossible to properly adapt him to film as a leading role, maybe he'd do better as a supporting character to the Avengers.

I'd be OK with it if it's rebooted MCU Spider-Man, Sony one appearing in MCU would fuck up the continuity. MCU is doing just fine without him anyway.

I haven't seen new Spiderman movies, didn't like that they were rebooting him so quickly. I'd rather them not even reboot him, we all know the origin story just fine. Introduce him as part of the Avengers or something and then give him his own movie that takes place afterwards.

Spidey is my favorite Marvel comic so it's a bummer that he's not part of the MCU, especially since I feel like they'd get it right.

I don't see why Spidey would mess up the MCU. He's usually been considered a street-level hero, and they're putting a bunch of those on Netflix.

I'm talking about MCU just putting the Sony Spider-Man into MCU. That's Andrew Garfield currently. If they just cast another guy and rebooted him without delving into his backstory, that's fine. They did that with The Incredible Hulk, which wasn't an origin story, and it worked just fine. If they decided to count Sony Spider-Man movies as MCU, it wouldn't make sense, too many plotholes.

They wouldn't have to count those movies as MCU, but I don't see the problem with having Garfield's Spidey appear in the movies.

Won't happen until at least 2019. Not a pipedream - flat out impossible unless Sony and Marvel do a deal.

Which won't happen unless the Sony Spidey franchise tanks. Which could happen....

ASM3 = Spider-Man 3 II?
Black Cat movie = Catwoman II?
Sinister Six movie could easily flop if not marketed as a Spider-Man movie. Or if Doc Ock sucks compared to SM2, where he was awesome.

It's still far-fetched in the extreme. I see what Marvel could offer to a sagging Sony franchise, but I don't see what Sony could offer to Disney.

Edit: just remembered the Doc Ock actor's name, Alfred Molina. He (and the effects) set a very high bar for anyone following in that role.

The problem is that by the time that Cap 3 is out those franchises aren't actually going to be dead yet. ASM2 was crap. Absolute crap. But ASM3 won't even be out by the time Cap 3 is. We might see Spidey in the future, but not in the foreseeable future.

I think I'm going to attempt to go into this movie without prior knowledge like I did with GotG and Winter Soldier. No trailers, plot descriptions, etc. Granted this will be much more difficult.
