The Marvel Thread (Spoilers, and language!)

Got the GOTG soundtrack on vinyl today. Disc one: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 :D

He's a great actor but it's really hard for me to picture him as Stephen Strange. Cumberbatch is British, Strange (like most Marvel heroes) is from New York. Will they change the character or will Cumberbatch do an American accent?

Don't know the character well enough to have strong feelings about the fit, but he's an excellent actor.

He's hard to get to know as a character because most writers just drop him in for a quick deus ex machina. Marvel hasn't published an ongoing Strange book in years, he's just an Avengers member right now. His origin story is about the redemption of a self-obsessed man, but the MCU has already mined that vein with RDJ/Iron Man. There's already been rumors that the Strange movie will skip the origin, and I hope so. I want to see the other-dimensional battles, not Cumberbatch meditating in the Himalayas.

If Sherlock showed anything it's that Cumberbatch can do self-obsessed very well.

Actually, it only throws me off because it sounds like a weird idea. Cumberbatch is quintessentially English. Him sounding like an American makes no sense to my brain, just like the idea of Tom Cruise sounding English.

Obviously I'm excited for all MCU movies, DC on the other hand... I'll definitely see BvS just because of all the hype, the rest will be based on whether I liked BvS and the trailers. Marvel should consider moving Black Panther back a few weeks because of JL... and DC should move Aquaman to a later date because of Captain Marvel.

Same here, none of the DC movies even remotely interest me. I'm going to see BvS because it's Batman but I have very low expectations.

I have hope for the DC movies, and I really want to see Flash and Aquaman. Also glad to see Marvel pushed Inhumans back until Strange, Black Panther and Carol Danvers get their movies.

I dunno, I guess it doesn't help that I've never been a big DC fan to begin with. Flash could be cool if done well though.

DC sucks at planning. Man Of Steel was average at best, didn't really impress at the box office and they decided to build a whole universe around it and announced 10 movies to follow it. Also I think it's very stupid to have both a Flash TV show and a movie that aren't connected. And a movie with Suicide Squad that has nothing to do with the one from Arrow. I have a feeling that Suicide Squad movie will flop hard. Though I might be biased because Batman's the only DC character I like :p Marvel took their time and GOTG's success allowed them to go all-out with experiments/risks in this announcement. I think that DC's rushing into this and it will backfire on them.

I think BVS will more or less decide what DC's next five years or so will look like. If it does well they can build off the success and build a decent cinematic universe. If not, I don't see these other movies doing well either. Especially since none of the characters being announced are nearly as popular as Batman and Superman.
