Dee Snider Explains His Problem With Metallica's 'Self-Serving' Live Show Concept: 'People Are There for the Hits'

Comments from Dee Snider talking about the new Metallica tour and he also brings up Maiden for the AMOLAD tour:
"And then I harken back to when Iron Maiden toured. Remember they played the entire new album; they refused to play any of their hits. Audience was furious. Bruce [Dickinson] was yelling at the crowd because they weren't getting into it. It was self-serving to do that. And the next year they came back, and it was the biggest hits only, 'cause they had to make up for that."
I know they got some flak in America but it wasn't like that elsewhere, was it?
Until this year, I was under the impression that Alice and Dee were two of rocks most respected figures for their smarter-than-average responses.Dee Snider has a big mouth and a tiny brain. That's why he's so pathetic to me. He's like Alice Cooper or Ted Nugent : he always opens his mouth to say bad things about people and other bands/rockers. He's a poor singer that is an absolute zero.

It is just Dee Snider trying to justify him only playing the Twisted Sister hits, isn’t it?
I was at both London gigs on the AMOLAD tour and the reaction to the new material was VERY enthusiastic as far as I can remember.
It's this. He doesn't understand because Twisted Sister doesn't have a following that would appreciate a deep cuts tour like Maiden does.I think he has somewhat of a point, but bands like Maiden and Metallica have a much bigger proportion of their crowd that are die hard fans who want to hear new stuff and deep cuts, I can't imagine there's too many people that Twisted Sister are their favourite band.
Also, Maiden didn't refuse to play hits as he suggests, the rest of the set was well known staples.

I always found Alice Cooper extremely bright and interesting in his responsesUntil this year, I was under the impression that Alice and Dee were two of rocks most respected figures for their smarter-than-average responses.
I really liked him too, and he's done a lot of good in the rock scene particularly with helping musicians get through addictions. His recent comments about trans people are pretty sad, especially since Alice Cooper has got to have been a pretty big idol for a lot of people when it comes to breaking gender norms.I always found Alice Cooper extremely bright and interesting in his responses

Yeah this was my first thought, 1/3rd of the setlist was hits. But I guess that doesn't matter when you're trying to be hyperbolic. Also, Maiden didn't refuse to play hits as he suggests, the rest of the set was well known staples.
Can you blame the Sister fans? They´re not gonna take it and just wanna rock.It is just Dee Snider trying to justify him only playing the Twisted Sister hits, isn’t it?
