The band is FIRE on this one
Cool fact. Time Machine is a great live song as we expected (Celts too, I've changed my mind). They have actually played both of Janick's songs from Senjutsu. The last time both/all of Janick's songs from the newest album got played was 2006.
Yep. I think they could have played The Alchemist, while Shadows Of The Valley (and River) are much better live songs than Tears Of A Clown. That was a surprise.Janick's songs are typically very high quality. It's too bad The Alchemist and Shadows of the Valley never saw the daylight.
I honestly disagree, Ian Paice is still a really high energy drummer, and the rest of the band doesnt sound 'old' eitherGoing back a bit but Deep Purple can perform like they do at their age because their show is about as low energy as a rock concert can get
I just need him to make until the end of the UK tour, and then he can pack it in.
Each to their own. I think they're all great musicians still (with the exception of Gillan) but their shows have a bit of a cruise ship vibe to me.I honestly disagree, Ian Paice is still a really high energy drummer, and the rest of the band doesnt sound 'old' either
Monitor issues?Listening to the Krakow videos...
Man, Nicko really struggled yesterday with something. Lots of missed snares and major tempo discrepancies during fills.
Especially Wasted Years is quite bad in that regard.
Yes, a possibility.Monitor issues?
H has also improved a lot as a guitar player since then in terms of theory and musical approach. He could also be changing it for tone, as the running on the A string will add just a touch more clarity than the E string, especially with the additional guitar in the mix.Guitar player talk...
Just watched a 1986 version of CSIT and it occured to me that H definitely re-learned that solo. He is playing those runs at 5th fret starting from A string. On the original album/tour, it's 10th fret on the low E.
What is funny is that today's version is much tougher to do, as you cross the B string which results in some movement. Original is quite fluid to play. Also that 2nd run before the second pick tapping part, the one containing a lone C#, is moved down the neck too and this is (in my opinion) why H plays it differently nowadays, as it is very hard to play on the B string because of the different interval).
So, all in all, H is making his life more difficult nowadays with that solo.

With our luck the US run next year will swap CIPWM for Wrathchild and Prisoner for Run to the Hills.I wasn't active on forum for some weeks and I don't know if you have discussed this topic already. What do you think will be changed songs on a possible 2024 leg of this tour. They usually change around 2 songs for next part of the tour so my prediction will be neither from SIT or SJ as both albums are represented with "unchangable songs". So I guess CIPWM will be replaced for another track from either SSOASS, Powerslave or modern era and probably FOTD to be replaced with HBTY (that would make FOTD for the first time not being played live since 2005). What are your guesses?
True, but it's a lot harder to play and this is probably the reason why he changed the 2nd run (the C# one).H has also improved a lot as a guitar player since then in terms of theory and musical approach. They didn't change anything for LOTB '19 and I don't think there's any reason to expect things to be different on this one. Maiden England was another such tour (changes only on the third leg) and TBOS only had one real change with Tears being swapped for TGU since that's what they were originally gonna do and the former wasn't much of a live success, Hallowed of course being determined by the lawsuit thing.I wasn't active on forum for some weeks and I don't know if you have discussed this topic already. Yeah, and those changes (Maiden England 2014 and TBOS 2017) were also when they were revisiting markets they already went with the same tour. On ME 2012/13 and LOTB 2018/19 where it was one continent and the other the following year, they kept the same setlist. It will probably stay the same. They didn't change anything for LOTB '19 and I don't think there's any reason to expect things to be different on this one.
