The Future Past tour 2023

Here's a second travel update in case anyone finds this useful or interesting:

I spent most of yesterday exploring Ljubljana. In the morning, I hiked up to the castle. It was worth a visit, and provided a great view of the city (and the distant mountains). After, I explored the crowded central market. Then I visited the two art museums near Tivoli park (which were okay, but nothing special).

(I tried to get lunch at the Neboticnik skyscraper. It's one of the tallest buildings in the city, and the patio provides a great panoramic view. Unfortunately I arrived too late. After noon, they only had drinks and cake left. The staff were nice enough to let me take a few photos, despite not getting anything to eat).

I saw British Lion last night. I walked to the venue (which took about 40 minutes). I arrived just before 20:00. Dark Tribe was, I would guess, two or three songs into their set. I was able to get a spot in the second row, towards the far left side of the stage. Dark Tribe gave a good, energetic performance.

British Lion's set was great. I'll repeat what I said on here, after their Toronto show from 2018. If you like the studio recordings - go see them, as the songs are played with more energy live. (The singer sounds much better live, especially when compared to their debut album - I'm not sure if he's gotten better over time, or if that album was poorly mastered). Even if you don't like their music - consider seeing them anyway. Otherwise, where else will you have the chance to see Steve Harris perform in a (relatively) small venue?

They played 17 songs (if I counted correctly). There was one song I didn't recognize, otherwise they played the majority of the songs from both of their first two albums. (I was curious if they were going to hint about a future album - no such luck). Objectively the band's performance was at least as good compared to their 2018 concert in Toronto. Subjectively, I liked that show more because @harrisdevot and I were front and centre, and this time I was off to the side. (The 2018 show only had a few hundred attendees. There must have been a thousand people there last night). It was still a great night out. I left right after, so I'm not sure if anyone was able to meet any of the band members after.

I slept in this morning. This is the fourth straight day of hot sunny, weather. I spent the early afternoon exploring Metelkova. There were some impressive graffiti murals, but a number of sketchy characters in the area. Otherwise, I'm conserving energy for what I'm sure will be a thrilling show tonight.

The fact that we haven't heard them rehearse Futureal yet can only mean one thing. That they're gonna play it tonight without rehearsing it

I actually love that song. Maybe they do a 90s ish tour next as a final hoorah although I feel like this may be it. it's their final 80s album they haven't covered in a history tour (SBIT doesn't count) lol

With your avatar pic and all I am starting to think that you actually like Futureal. I think a few harmonies would do wonders to this one.

Glasgow is exactly one month from now. It's going to be hard to avoid spoiler videos. Although I will seek out what the setlist is (good for knowing where to skip out for a pee/bar/cigarette break).

Wanted to be spoiler-free til Dortmund in 2 months. Probably impossible, since whenever I'm on any social media platform, I get maiden news or shorts.

So I might as well hang out here tonight

They drop Sancturay in middle of tour(anyway nobody cares about that song)

They add Phantom during tour and they played good old Wrathchild on some dates.
In addition to WED being mentioned earlier, 1986 was also the last time they played Flight of Icarus until LOTB in 2018, which is pretty nuts. Somewhere on Tour was packed with surprising setlist choices (no Trooper, for example) and changes and a ton of dropped songs specifically.

I've never skipped out on Maiden. During Bruce's spoken word show I thought my bladder would explode but I was able to make it to intermission

Will there be a spoiler free thread? I don't mind knowing the setlist but would like to avoid any pictures or videos of the stage
