After several months with no live gigs, I went to see Tool live last week at the O2 Arena in London. I am not a big fan (I have a couple of their albums) and thought they were impressive. A completely different type of live show to the one I am used to, with the singer at the back instead of commanding the stage, and superb projections on a massive screen. It was expensive (£104 for a seat up in the gods), but worth the money.

Things get busier over the next few weeks, with the following gigs in the diary:

- Troy Redfern in Guildford, 23/06/2024
- Guilfest 2024 (The Stranglers, From the Jam, Sam Ryder, Peter Hook and the Light, Shaun Ryder's Black Grape...) in Guildford, 29/06/2024 and 30/06/2024
- Suede + Manic Street Preachers in Cardiff, 06/07/2024
- Suede + Manic Street Preachers in London, 18/07/2024

LOL - third time's the charm...

Just saw Lynch Mob!
Was my 3rd time to see George Lynch up close and he doesn't disappoint.
Good mix of Dokken covers and songs from Wicked Sensation.
Great deep cuts like Lightning Strikes Again, Paris is Burning, & Mr Scary!
Only improvement would have been an End Machine song!
Going to post my video of the opening track on Now Playing thread soon

Saw Yngwie Malmsteen last night in Uppsala. Great gig and about what you expected from him. 27 Marshall amps on stage and soloing all the time through 1 hour and 40 minutes.

A bucket list item checked off.

Nice. I saw him during his Facing The Animal tour. Pretty impressive.

Back on Sunday night, took my son to see Robert Cray band open for Doobie Brothers at a large outdoor pavilion.
Robert is our 1st blues artist to see live and he didn't disappoint.
Although for some reason he hasn't played his biggest hit Smoking Gun since 2017!

This was my 2nd Doobies show. Saw them in 1990 on the Cycles reunion tour of the original line up w/o Michael Mcdonald.
This time is the 50th anniversary tour WITH Michael so they played his soul songs as well as Tom Johnston's rock songs! Great set but I just wish they hadn't skipped the Cycles and Brotherhood lps.

Also, was an outdoor show so was HOT.
Even though the sun was only on us for the first 2 songs, humidity kept the temperature in the 90s at night! I bought 3 bottled waters for me and 1 plus a large lemonade for my boy.

At least there was a lounge with a/c to wait in before the show!

I saw the Robert Cray Band in Guildford some years ago with a friend and we were impressed!

I saw the Manic Street Preachers and Suede at Cardiff Castle (what a beautiful venue for concerts) with my family last Saturday and we had a blast.

Suede went on stage first and played a nice set, with Brett Anderson oozing charisma and spending quite some time singing with the fans on the front row. A superb frontman.

The night belonged to the Manics though, with the show being a home turf one. From the opener, You Love Us, to the final song, If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next, we were treated to a superb show mixing the hits from the 90s with some more recent material and even one song off the maligned Lifeblood.

The weather held off for most of the gig, but it started raining heavily during the final songs (heavens opened during Tsunami!). After finishing playing the last song on the setlist, a very wet James Dean Bradfield (we were all drenched) stayed on stage and played a snippet of Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head.

Can’t wait to see them again in London next week!

Turns out I'll be seeing Bruce Springsteen on Friday :)

Originally me and my siblings bought tickets to our parents (my dad is a huge fan of the Boss) for xmas and I agreed to drive them there. The tickets were rather pricey and the concert was sold out immediately, so I didn't get ticket for myself back then, as I'm not that big of a fan, but last Friday I actually managed to get one from the "fansale" (a bit similar to the Ticketmaster resale marketplace and such) for a decent (I guess) price of 77€, so... why not!

Kind of cool, as I've never seen this Bruce live before and for all we know, it might very well be his last ever gig in Finland.

You are in for a treat. I saw Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band live back in 2009 and they were impressive!

I have some really cool gigs coming up in the next six months.

Symphony X in September.
Dream Theater + meet and greet in November. This might be the most excited I've been for any concert ever.
Rage 40th anniversary tour in November.
Queensryche "The Origins Tour" in January. This is the first time QR comes here with Todd on vocals so that's extra cool. Also seeing The Warning as well as the first EP in full is great since Geoff didn't play anything from those when I saw his solo band.

The future is looking bright.
