Kila are great. I saw them live in 2004 and have very fond memories of that gig.

Edit: I remember them - Rónán Ó Snodaigh in particular - being very interested in the location of the tomb of Hugh Roe O’Donnell. :)
He is not wise. I saw him do a solo gig at a small festival over the summer, he manages to make one man on the bodhran sound like a techno dj. Which was better than it sounds! He sat with us after til well after the sun came up, swimmin in the river an talkin utter shite.

Billy Bragg was great on Tuesday. Great selection of songs interspersed with witty and funny speeches and song introductions. He had a really good one about vaccines and doing things for the common good. Highlights of the show were A Lover Sings, Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key, The Milkman of Human Kindness, There is Power in a Union, Never Buy the Sun, and Waiting for the Great Leap Forwards.

Next gig: Massive Wagons + The Darkness at the same venue.

After reading these reviews of their gigs at the Planet Rockstock festival last weekend, I can't wait!

I personally think that the police response is a wee bit excessive.

GG Allin would've been proud:rolleyes:

Concerts:
1/22/22 Tool @ T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV
2/8/22 - Dream Theater @ accesso ShoWare Center, Kent, WA
3/9/22 - Judas Priest with Queensryche @ Angel of the Winds Arena, Everett, WA
4/16/22 - Deftones @ The WAMU Theater, Seattle, WA

So GNR ended up being the only show I went to this year. It wasn't the greatest show ever but they played a good set and it was very nice to get out and see a show. Plus it was in Montana so it was kind of a mini vacation for me. I picked up a ticket to DT this morning. 5th row on Petrucci's side. I had a ticket to this earlier but they cancelled it and moved it to a larger venue. Speaking of cancelled shows DT cancelled that show on the same day Judas Priest had to cancel so that kinda hurt. I even had a 2nd row ticket to Priest too! In the end it works out because I still get to go to DT finally and my ticket is better.

And this comes as a shock to no one but I picked up tickets to Tool a while back. I would really like to see Mastodon again to hear some of the new songs live but they're too far away.

Got tickets for Ghost in Birmingham in April. Excited to be seeing them again for the sixth time. My current line up is:

17/12 - Creeper, Birmingham
12/1 - Avatar, Wolverhampton
30/1 - Sleep Token, London
14/3 - Gojira, Cardiff
18/3 - Sabaton, London
9/4 - Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, London
15/4 - Ghost, Birmingham
17/4 - Devin Townsend, London
22/4 - Nick Mason, Birmingham
11-14/8 - Bloodstock, Derbyshire
1/10 - Parkway Drive, Manchester

Definitely making up for the past 18 months.

Saw two shows this week:

Prong/Obituary/Black Label Society - took my teenage boy which was his first club show. Prong was great and I was shocked how packed the place was for opening band. My boy was impressed with Tommy's guitar playing. This was my 9th Prong show.
Obituary was killer and very well received by the audience. My boy enjoyed head banging to them and was surprised by singer John's super long hair
Not really a fan of BLS (even though Zack is a great guitarist) so we didn't stay for more than 1 song.

Wilderun/Swallow the Sun - went to this show due to @MrKnickerbocker praise of Wilderun when he saw them prior to COVID-19. They only played 3 songs because each tune was 10 minutes long! From stage the singer said band's name is pronounced Wieldrun. I met the singer at the merch table. He said band's name is inspired by Terry Brooks Shannara novel series. Told him I love side long songs so I like Ash Memory. He said they have never played it live but hope to one day.
Next up was Abigail Williams which I skipped because I am not a fan.
Finally was my first Swallow the Sun show. Very slow with moments of intensity. Singer wore hoodie through entire performance and apoke just a little (& quietly) to the audience between songs. Thankfully he did announce most of the songs.

Bad news is Priest/Sabaton show in Dallas has been rescheduled same night as Dream Theater at home here in Houston show guess we'll miss Priest.

Next show for us will be Obituary co-headlining show with Municipal Waste (not a fan) in January. Hopefully Obituary will go on 1st so I can leave after them.

Photos are Swallow the Sun, Wilderun, BLS, & Prong (my Obituary photos won't load)

Damn, I just saw on Blabbermouth that Sabaton will no longer be opening for Priest on rescheduled 50th anniversary US shows next year; instead Queensryche will be. Makes me feel a little better about missing this tour. Don't get me wrong; LOVE Queensryche and seen current line up live twice but seeing Sabaton live a 2nd time was actually almost more exciting to me than Priest.

We're in the same boat. I only saw Sabaton once and they opened for Iced Earth. I've also seen Queensryche's lineup with Todd twice. Would've loved to see Sabaton again but I'm okay with Queensryche. I don't really listen to them much anymore but there's a lot worse bands they could have had open for them imo. Hopefully Priest keeps the same set they were playing.

I went to see The Darkness yesterday. Great gig, with the band in fine form. The encore of 'Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End)' was hilarious, with the band donning different silly Christmas clothes. Special mention to Rufus Taylor, who played the song dressed up as a Christmas tree.

Massive Wagons were a superb support act. 30 minutes of relentless hard rock with great catchy tunes.

Next gig would be either Tony MacAlpine in Guildford or Van der Graaf Generator in London in February 2022. I've had a ticket for the Van der Graaf Generator gig since 2020... Fingers crossed both gigs can go ahead!

Sorry people, I've got to brag a bit.
It's been more than 3 years that I've been to a single gig, and there was this fu**-it moment a couple of weeks ago where I bought a bunch of tickets. Here they are:

Untitled1.jpg

I even thought of buying a Franz Ferdinand (high school nostalgia) for April and later that week I found out Uriah Heep are on 50th anniversary tour in October (although I'm not familiar with anything apart from first 6 albums with Byron). That would make a nice April-October stretch with a gig in every month, and that hasn't happened since... ever. Anyway, it's good that I didn't, since Maiden announced their tour, so the schedule goes something like this.

22.05. - Iron Maiden
27.05. - Dream Theater w/Devin Townsend
28.06. - Mastodon w/Baroness
02.08. - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
03.08. - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
26.09 - Opeth

Sad reality is that I probably won't see every one of these. The first reason being pandemic and second is hectic life schedule I'll have next year. Still, it felt good. So good.
Oh, and special shout-out to LAA agency who organizes these and still gives a damn about little details (like making a small batch of these hard-copy tickets for the small percentage of people who put them on the wall, myself included).

You do not know how much I miss those hard-copy tickets! The other day I was showing my daughter my collection of ticket stubs and it was a trip down memory lane.

Update with Maiden. Thought about doing a third but decided my overall schedule looks amazing enough already. Plus that is already now 5 shows I will have to travel for. I got GA tickets for both of the shows and I'm hoping for FTTB on at least one of them.

Oh, wow, this is a good idea.

I've decided not to add anything yet until the new year, but I am definitely seeing:

July 22 - Iron Maiden feat. The Hellacopters, Airbourne @ Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, Sweden.
Oct. 15 - Iron Maiden feat. Within Temptation @ Canadian Tire Centre, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
