It's weird, because the different band members seem to be saying such different things (unsurprisingly) about the recording and production:

Steve/Janick - "It's all very raw. We didn't have anything fully written or rehearsed. We went into every recording really live so it has that unhinged live feel."

Adrian - "It's definitely more produced than the last few records and a bit more refined to my liking."

So......the recordings are super raw and energetic, but then they tweaked things in mixing/tracking and took more care in adding additional parts/vocals? That could be the perfect Maiden sound, actually.

Just curious, why? They've done that a bunch with the 3 guitar line up.
 
I write songs and I think there's only so much you can do with similar instruments. Having three guitars opens up the possibility to have a harmony going with a riff in the background, and as was said in the interview, you can play it live. Parts don't have to be dropped. That said, I understand where gk1 is coming from.

With a singer as distinct and powerful as Bruce Dickinson, I think playing the melody on guitar can rob some of his vocal power. It's too much going on. Not always, but sometimes. Honestly, I thought WTWWB would have benefited from a riff that was different from the main verse melody. That song was clearly written for Blaze, however, so I get what Steve was doing.

I think this is overdone.I would prefer a guitar harmony or at least a riff underneath.Instead of what is already done on dozens of their songs already. I find it really funny at times

But.....there's a bunch of songs where they do that as well.

Doesn't matter, I'm really intrigued with what I've read about these new songs today. Can't wait to hear them.

Exactly, we can't really say anything without lisgening to the actual album,can we? :)
 
with multiple reviews out now, anyone of them could leak the album & not risk losing their credentials or risk their job. So long as enough people have heard it, it's time to leak it. I've already got 2 on order so letting me hear it wouldnt jeopardize a sale. Come on people!

Yeah, this is not going to happen. One song on Friday then the rest in early September. Trust me dude, you can wait. We all have to.

I know but the wait is absolutely killer. 5 years is too long to wait. To be honest, I haven't been this excited for a Maiden album since BNW. Don't know what it is. The long wait, bruces cancer diagnosis, all the press ramp up over the last couple days, single coming out, the snippet....It's just got so much hype lately. Ever since they issued the press release about the album, I've been counting the days. I'm gonna play the sh*t outta that single until I get the rest of them!
 
So I gather from the picture earlier in the thread that someone was able to purchase Speed of Light today from Best Buy? At least one store broke the street date apparently - of course not so lucky at the one near me.
 
Maybe it was an employee just taking a picture in the warehouse... It would have leaked by now if anyone had actually gotten a hold of it.
 
Yeah, but I'm curious - how many of what we read is marketing stunt. For example thingy with opening song being from Bruce solo album. Everybody know that we want that album to happen and info like this will create so much hype...
