I am a bit worried... What was the last metal song you heard that is longer than 15 minutes and did not have any guests?

Sleep's Dopesmoker, Green Carnation's Light of Day, Day of Darkness, Edge of Sanity's Crimson, Pig Destoryer's Natasha. Metal is full of good long songs and Iron Maiden are about to release the best one :D

I know the German mag Rock Hard is supposed to have a write up of the new album in their next issue. Sadly, that doesn't come out until August 28 so I'm sure we'll know a great deal by then but it is something.

I'm guessing the embargo on news and reviews may have been lifted?

That is true, but honestly I don't think any other review will be able to tell us that much more than the classic rock magazine review already did...And by late August/early September we are days away from owning the album. I don't care about reviews by that time...it only becomes interesting again weeks afterwards when you can compare your own opinion to a review.

Which begs the question - how many 15+ minute metal songs feature guests?

I'm really expecting Empire of the Clouds to take us places no Maiden song ever has before. I hope it's an amazing song!

It does suck that if any songs do leak, we won't be able to discuss them an give our opinions since that would be considered reviewing leaked material, but at least we can have opinions ready once it's officially released.

Still not convinced it was so much a general embargo as an effort to drip-feed news, so there's a gradually flow in the build-up to the album release. If anything, I'd expect the flow to intensify now.

Ya, I mean...I know Maiden is a big popular band but sometimes it really does surprise me that they have 13 million followers on facebook...and we're here in our own little Maidenfans.com fish bowl with maybe...I don't know? how many active members? 50-70-80? :p
