It depends on the new tour.

If they want to promote the new album on tour and play multiple songs from it, they have to release the album before the summer festivals - April/May.
If they want a Gimme Ed/TFF-leg-1 tour (with just one new song played live), then it's probably gonna be released later, like TFF. And since TFF was released in August, it's the obvious suspect.

That makes sense. I'd go for later rather than sooner based on that. But there's just something that makes me think they'll spring it on us. I've been staring too hard at the ninjas.

@Forostar - a Mackem is a person from Sunderland/Wearside, so called because we apparently say mak 'em and tak 'em in instead of 'make them' and 'take them'.

Hence, you prove that in Northern England, there is not much of a demonym and a curs. Ergo, Foro's question was justified. :P

Based (solely) on the Ninja references in the pic, I think the album is gonna creep up on us unexpected. So I would say sooner than later.

I read further up in the thread that some hoped for a longer instrumental. I share that hope. Maiden have plenty of long songs with shorter or longer instrumental passages, but no long instrumental that lives on its own without lyrics. I'm sure Maiden could do a 7-8 minute instrumental (i.e. Ktulu length) of good quality, where all the three amigos, Nicko and Steve got space to express themselves. Also, it could be a welcome part of a live set, where Bruce could go backstage and have a drink during shows :)

We have no proof that studio time was booked. We have no proof that anything happened, in fact. We have rumours.

I am afraid some people in the know over at the IM website bulleting board have confirmed that studio time was booked and that Maiden were at Guillaume Tell studios in Autumn.

Anyway, for those of you of little faith, there are some pictures in FC magazine 99 of Nicko and his drum tech taken at Guillaume Tell Studio A. I'd say the chances of them going there just to take pictures of Nicko with a drum kit are pretty slim, especially as the rig from other band members can also be seen in the background. Oh, and in some of those pictures Nicko can be seen next to a timpani and crotales, which suggests that there percussion instruments were probably also played during the recordings.

Working in a studio doesn't mean recording. Recording in a studio doesn't mean they use instruments in front of them.

We can say it is likely they did some recording. I think that it is very likely that they recorded an album. I just don't think that matters. And unless people on the IMBB have posted pictures of things like receipts, or a booking log, or something with Steve Harris/Rod Smallwood/Andy Taylor's signature on it, it's not evidence. It's "people saying shit on the internet".

I will talk of probabilities and likelihoods, but there is really no credible information out there. And that's by design. Maiden wants this to be at a fever pitch before they announce.
