And nice to read .. but in case of a double CD I would prefer long and short songs mixed together so it does not get tiring.

If they do a double album, I want one disc dedicated solely to Adrian Smith's guitar playing.

I want Maiden to go super, ultra progressive and give us their version of Dream Theater. That could depend on how limited in their creativity they are.

No, just no. A failure to "go DT" is not due to lack of creativity. Put a gun to 'Arry's head and he could write a 27-minute, 6-part epic with 872 time changes, but that's not his style. Nor do I doubt that the boys could push themselves to higher virtuosity if they chose, but few bands have the appetite for constantly practicing just to play your own songs live.

Let DT be DT, and let Maiden be Maiden.

I'm not saying they have to have tons of time changes like DT, but I'd like to see Maiden go as extremely progressive as whatever 'Arry's style happens to be unless they've already gone to that level. Maybe 1 or 2 steps further than what they have done would be possible. Their longer, more progressive songs always end up being my favorites on the album so it would be sweet to see that be taken to another level of some sort. Either way, I know we'll get another amazing album that won't disappoint.

I'd rather not have ultra-long, and I'm sure I remember someone (Adrian?) saying if they ever did anything else there'd be more shorter songs. But that's actually the thing that niggles me slightly. If they think it would be a good thing to go for a batch of short rockers, or try to hark back to the old days, it could end up a pale imitation. Hopefully they'll go with musical instinct rather than a strategic move.

Always forward... NEVER backward....

No Prayer and Fear are the only two Maiden albums I can barely listen to.

I'd like them to go with shorter songs with atmosphere. Kind of like Mother of Mercy and Coming Home from the last album.

I dunno about more progressive. I think the next album is probably going to be a mashup. There was a lot of discussion during the last album of looking at shorter, more rock-like songs. But I don't think the Traditional Harris Epic is going to get any shorter, either. It's definitely been swinging up the last three albums.

What I think is we're going to see more Janick on this album. The Final Frontier was very Smith, not so much Janick. Of course, the addition of His High Lord Adrian Smith to all songs is irrelevant, for we all know that Adrian Smith wrote all Iron Maiden songs and secretly played the drums on Virtual Eleven, but it certainly has a different feel than a Gers-heavy album.

Don't you think the drums on VXI would have been a whole lot better if His Adrianess had played them?!

Seeing as we are all, Davey included, figments of His H's benevolent imagination, the concept of competition is irrelevant.

I really feel that the new album will surprise us all.

Since Maiden really hates going back musically, i think that if the new album is even more progressive than the last one, it will without a doubt include new elements to Maiden's music.

I don't know what elements, i don't even know how... But i'm sure they will surprise us. Even if they do "go back" to shorter songs, there will always be new elements and dynamics, so i think either way we're all heading for a big surprise. And a good one too!

I am excited about this new album and a new tour too. Again, they need to play a lot of the new songs. Hope they don't do the Final Frontier crap with one song from the new album and that is it

There's an old quote about writing music from Brahms... "It's easy putting notes on the pages. Letting the unnecessary notes fall off the page is delightfully difficult."

If Maiden wants to both move forward musically and move toward short songs, then I'm hoping we get Steve to cut down his epics. Go ahead and write that quiet intro, Steve, and repeat it at the end ... then get rid of it and let us hear the song. Let the rest fall off the page.

Yeah, that would suck...

Why do you think that happened on TFF tour? Never understood it.... Kind of unmaiden
