Steve Harris

Has anyone here been to a show with this very short set list?
Why so short? Do you know why?

The new(?) artwork with the lion on the bass drum is so cool.

Steve: If Tony could play guitar back then the way he does now he’d probably still be in the band [both laugh]. But Tony was on keyboards and rhythm guitar. They wouldn’t have been subtle if you were playing them! Tony was trying to shoehorn keyboard parts into a song like Wrathchild and they just didn’t fit. I always wanted the twin-guitar thing in Maiden, and he was more of a rhythm guitarist.

What do the other Iron Maiden guys think about you doing British Lion?

Steve: I don’t really know. Adrian came on the last tour and stayed till the end. I know that Davey doesn’t have a problem with it. Nicko came to see us on the previous tour. Bruce has seen us. The only one that hasn’t is Janick, and I’ve never spoken to him about it. But if he did have a problem… well, that’s tough! Naah, I’m kidding. They all know that it makes no difference whatsoever to Maiden. If anything, it helps me get match-fit for Maiden.

Talking of Maiden guys’ extra-curricular activity, have you heard Bruce’s album?

Steve: Not yet, no. A few days ago he brought in the vinyl single to show the artwork, but I haven’t heard any of the actual music.

Thanks for sharing this.

No one else pick up on this?

Why are Bruce and Steve meeting up is my thinking.
For the holidays or Bruce to give him a copy of his album/single? It can't be about the future live album & video from the current tour (like they did in 2020), it's too early for that I guess. They are both busy now and don't usually write songs together. Early next year the best time window. And they have ideas all the time. This year is one of the busiest for Maiden's members.

Don’t know when this interview was conducted, but Bruce spent lot of time in the US last year, and Steve partially lives in LA? Or randomly meeting early this year in the UK?

I as well hope of course they were busy doing live material related activities, or writing songs for the next album!

Think it was literally a few days ago at the Cart and Horses British Lion gig.

I saw British Lion in Ljubljana the day before Maiden, I left halfway through the gig.

If I am not mistaken I saw Alexander Milas and Dave Shack outside the venue when I left. Maybe they couldnt be bothered either.
Nice to know someone else felt the same. I thought the audience looked quite bored. There was just so little variation in the material.

Yep. I felt sorry for Steve having to endure endless rambling stories about Dr Necropolis…

Perhaps they got together so Bruce could show Steve his wedding photos.

Joking aside, they probably meet with management whenever Steve is in the UK.
