Short-answer questions

Why Maiden decided to remake the No Prayer for the dying album cover erasing the undertaker in the 2CD 90's remasters?

I seem to remember there being a rumour about accusations of racism thrown at the original cover because some people thought he is a Roma. Don't know where I read that, as it was 15 years or more ago, and I can't find any source now. Maybe somebody else here knows more, though.

Regarding Dance Of Death's reissue... Can we create a petition to (at least) rearrange its cover elements in a similar fashion as shown below so it doesn't hurt our eyes? :p

P.S. even still... ditch the baby and the dog head. They're every designer's nightmare.

I never heard that. I read somwhere that they thought the undertaker was corny looking.
From Wikipedia and taken from the Art of Derek Riggs Book:
Two versions of the cover exist. The original 1990 version has Eddie bursting from his grave and grabbing a gravedigger (with the likeness of the band's manager, Rod Smallwood) by the neck. However, Smallwood disliked the figure and asked artist Derek Riggs to remove him from the cover for the 1998 re-release

Rod, OMG!

I think that the guy doesn't look at all to Rod and if the character is a bad drawing, I don't think so.

haha, when they released Dance of Death and saw their album cover…I couldn't believe it. I thought who is the non specialist in Poser software? There are figures with legs like dolls. Shame.

I just realised now why the 1998 cover is shit. The light on Eddie is caused by the grave diggers lamp. With it removed, it makes no sense why Eddie is lit up and nothing else is.

What happened to the Iron Maiden TV (IMTV) ? This was a great YouTube channel. I wish they would continue it. Great episodes from TFF and ME tours.

I remember originally, back when the Iron Maiden forums changed from being free for all to being a pay fan club membership forum, IMTV was one of the features you'd get as a paying member. Yet, someone would always upload the videos on YouTube very shorty afterwards, so all the fan club members would always bitch about the premium features not being very exclusive. I also think that perhaps they just take too much effort and time to make now that everything has moved to sites like Facebook...

Was it not changed in other way? I remember it being sort of CGI-ish, like the changed debut cover. That's what I didnt like about it, a change in the overall tone of the art. Wasnt too disappointed to see the grave digger removed, he cheapened the original for me.

I reckon they got fed up with cameras. Flight 666 in particular, must have been hard work for them. I can easily see Adrian askin for veto on such shenanigans

It was great to see the band during a tour. Always loved these kind of stuff... and documentaries too - it's great to see the band in the studio talk about the writing process. :)

That probably too. Also, they had to hire and pay cameramen, production crew, editors etc to do all that, perhaps it just wasn't worth it anymore.

Funny however back in those days when IMTV, Nicko's tour diaries, exclusive concert photos etc, were meant to be exclusive to the membership part of the forum. As if they could hide all that away from the rest of the internet. They did quickly give up on that attempt...

Yeah they added text to the grave as well. I agree it's the CGI that changed the tone completely. The original isn't great to begin with but it's way better than the new version.

Touching the iconic debut cover was sacrilege. Maybe the worst thing Maiden ever did??

Hi! New here but long time reader.

I've always wondered what happened to Adrian at Hammersmith Live '82? Bruce said he was suffering for a few sore ribs at the beginning of 22 Acacia Avenue... Does anyone know if he fell or something?

Just curiosity. Thanks!

I think they changed things because they wanted to upgrade the mark like cutting the logo, but in all remasters ALL, there are wrong things…you can see photos from Seventh Son in Piece of Mind remasters…things like that. I don't know if Steve approve this or Rod…but the fans don't like this.
