Obviously nothing confirmed until the dates are dropped, but it might be a case of what I said earlier, they don't feel they could pull off a stadium show in NZ, but condensing Aus stadiums in just 3 cities they might do better and rely on travel.
 
Allianz Stadium in Sydney has a 35/37k capacity for shows. Probably a bit less for Maiden.
Melbourne's AAMI Park as a 30k capacity with seated GA, meaning it can be 35k for Maiden.

Maiden uniteD is playing Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. There is a stadium in Canberra which for live shows probably has a capacity close to 30k.

Canberra is placed between Melbourne and Sydney, too close. The shows could cannibalise themselves. I think a better option would be Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane (Showgrounds) with 25k capacity per show.

I don't think they will play Canberra either, but in case they have a reasonably big venue.

Yeah, and if they pulled off 25k per show that would still be a success, basically playing to more people over 3 shows than 7 arena dates. Essentially less work for bigger or worse case similar numbers.
