RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

Adrian can't wait and said the fans are gonna love it. Great.

''After the first show, it'll be all over the Internet. Everyone's gonna know the setlist, everyone's gonna know what it looks like, everyone's gonna know the fuckups we made. That's just the way it is now. But, yeah. it'll be special, I think.''

Haha. Let's hope the setlist indeed will be special, not more of the same.

Every single drum hit Simon makes is going to be over-analysed to fuckery. There'll be numerous YouTube clips playing frame by frame. It's going to be embarrassing.

*Misses one tom beat on The Trooper. "See, I told you he was shit!" - fans probably.

I want to listen to this interview but that means having to listen to Eddie Trunk. Not sure if I can stomach that.

Yeah, I don't understand the hate Simon got here when it was first announced. The guy is a pro. Of course it sucks that Nicko is gone but if it has to be this way then getting a session player was the right move.

I'm not worried about the setlist either. The last time Maiden had a less than stellar setlist was over a decade ago with the Maiden England tour. And that was only slightly disappointing.

5 weeks rehearsal time with a new drummer?

I have to imagine Simon's had the setlist for a good while and has been learning the songs inside and out in his spare time since January at the latest. If his tempo's more solid and consistent than Nicko's was (especially on parts of Future Past), I don't know if more than the usual rehearsal time is needed. That, and since he was backup on Future Past, I imagine the band's all played with him prior to this.

This is assuming common sense is being used and they're doing/have done all the above. If not, then yeah...what the hell?

I agree about the Maiden England setlist, and yes, it wasn't too bad at all.

The Maiden England (2012/13) setlist was good. The strange part was they played two songs that hadn't been written until a few years after the original tour - Fear of the Dark (a fan favourite) and Afraid to Shoot Strangers (a great song, and it hadn't been played live since 1998).

I would have preferred they kept the setlist more in line with the original Maiden England tour. If they dropped those two songs (14 minutes), they would have had time for three of Infinite Dreams, Still Life, Die With Your Boots On, and Killers. Hopefully they played two or three of those this year.

What does a typical pre-tour rehearsal day looks like for Maiden? Any idea on whether they focus on one or two songs each day, or more? Do they rehearse full songs or just part of songs? At what point do they play the full set? As a non musician I find this very interesting.

Simon's Winter for sure was sweaty and drummy. I'm pretty sure he had numerous nightmares about drumming for Maiden naked and "the show is about to begin, he's walking to the stage, but can't pass through backdrops and curtains, because it's a labyrinth!" And when he is able to do that, he sits on his drumming stool but sees that there's no actual drums before him. And sinister laugh of someone called Michael can be heard from the backstage. Cold sweat awakenings and endless drumming sessions in the stillness of the many winter nights...
But then... There will be enormous reward... roaring crowds and the joy of live performance with the legendary band. And the high of the songs itself. Ecstasy of the adrenaline driven moment.
Of course, after the show he will not be able to sleep. And even if he will manage to do that, there's always those persistent nightmares. Although, in the end, what could be better than performing with Maiden, even if you're completely naked?
