It's not too early, right?
Right..?
Well I suppose it's ever too early for speculating and guessing the setlist of the Run For Your Lives world tour! With LOTB, a similar thread & contest was opened relatively close to the first date of the tour, but for Future Past tour 2023 we started as early as 6th of October 2022... So let's roll with somewhat similar schedule.
The deadline for the entries will be Sunday 18th of May 2025.
The first show of the tour will take place on 27th of May, so sneaky soundcheck/rehearsal audio recorded outside the venue of the first show shouldn't affect the results this time...
The rules are exactly the same as on the previous two runs:
- You can submit one speculative setlist you believe they might play in the first show; possible setlist changes after that won't affect the scoring.
- Doctor, Doctor or any subsequent intros such as the actual Tour intro with a video, Churchill's speech, Ides of March, Transylvania (as a show intro, not when actually played somewhere in the set) etc. don't count.
- Please separate the encore(s) from the main set & use numbering, example given below:
1. The Wicker Man
2. Run to the Hills
3. Sheriff of Huddersfield
4. etc...
12. Iron Maiden
-- / ENCORE / just leave an empty row in between etc.
13. The Number of the Beast
14. Brave New World
15. Running Free
Scoring:
A song in a submitted set is played - 1p per song
The submitted set has the correct total amount of songs - 1p
A song is submitted in a correct setlist position - 1p per song
Example: The Wicker Man is put as 10th song in a set submitted by Member X and it's actually played as tenth song in the set; therefore Member X gains 2 points since the submitted song is featured in the set and it's position is the very same too.
NOTICE: even if your set has too many/too few songs you can still earn correct setlist position point (1) if a song happens to be a closer to the main set (Iron Maiden, anyone?) or a show closer.
Example with TBOS 2016-17 scenario: Member X's set has 16 songs but they'll play only 15. However, Member X has listed Iron Maiden as the main set closer and Wasted Years as the show closer. 2 x 2p provided.

SCORES BELOW
Lots of tied scores this time!
2018 setlist contest winner Whooten (20 points - no longer around here) hands the ETERNAL GLORY over to three new winners: @blackie2380 (who benefited from the last minute Can I Play With Madness leak though, but their prediction was fairly accurate to begin with), @MrKnickerbocker & @Collin (20 points) - congratulations to winners and well done you all! Second place get shared as well, as three members (@efekåseo_suomi , @Azas & @Rocking Rolling Man ) reached 19 points. @its_ArchroniX got close, but slipped to third place due to small inconsistency with the given rules.
Some general notes:
- This is more of a note-to-self, but anyway: next time I'll make the rules slightly more precise; e.g songs should always be numbered as it makes counting the scores a lot faster
- Most setlists were put there clearly enough, but few inconsistencies occurred thorough the competition. E.g putting alternatives (example: Futureal/Stratego); instead of giving half a point if the other alternative was correct I decided to go with zero. Harsh me!
- Aside from the most popular show opener, main set closer and show closer picks (Caught Somewhere in Time, Iron Maiden, Wasted Years) a lot of people were able to predict correct setlist spot (3. song) for The Writing on the Wall
- A lot of people - even those who got very off-track in general, were able to place Heaven Can Wait correctly (9. song)
- Many of the predictions had 16 songs (mine included); in the past that might have meant lots of incorrect guesses for the position of Fear of the Dark, but The Legacy of the Beast set assumably made placing one song between FOTD and Iron Maiden a popular option and therefore a lot of people got two points for Fear of the Dark (11th song), even if they listed 16 songs instead of the correct amount (15)
- Alexander the Great was a very popular guess for the encore opener, where as Hell on Earth was often listed as 10th or 11th song in the set; basically switching these two the other way round would have brought many of the predictions very, very close to what we eventually got!
A huge, heartfelt thank you for everyone who participated the contest and the discussion!
But remember,
Death or glory, it's all the same!
