RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

I find it really hard to believe that if Steve and or Bruce didn`t want to do Aces they would be forced to do it by Rod.It would have made absolutely no difference to ticket sales if they had dropped it.

Yeah. I would have thought they could have told Rod: “We are not playing that song”, but it seems that after the lacklustre performances they are quite eager to blame him. “He is a Yorkshire man, he can take it” to (partially) quote them.

I'm quite curious what the other song they wanted to rest could be. Any ideas?
I could only guess one of those that are staples of nearly every tour:

Trooper
Fear of the Dark
NotB
Maybe even Iron Maiden

Nobody's said anything about being tired of any of these that I've read, but it's gotta get dull at times to play a song for the 8,000th time, no matter how great of songs they might be.

I think it’s a great setlist. Other than Aces High, I think the band really knocked it outer park with this one.

Sure I preferred the setlists for LOTB and TFP tours, but I feel they were aimed at more hardcore fans like me. This is a just a big mix up of the original 3 History tours and presented as a celebration. It’s perfect for more casual fans and satisfies a great proportion of more hardcore fans.

The Number Of The Beast just had a rest as it wasn't played on The Future Past Tour. The last time The Trooper wasn't played was 2010 I think.

If they would have wanted to make a pure 80's setlist resting Fear Of The Dark would make sense, last time it wasn't played was 2005.

If that is the case, it beggars belief that the manager and not the musicians playing the song drove the decision based on some kind of stage set gimmick!
Rod suggests songs, but I guess the final word is up to the band/Bruce, as usual. Maybe sometimes a stage art/prop is influential, but you can't make them do one of their hardest songs if they don't want it. And especially the encores. Sure, it's a big classic and cool visuals, but a song like Infinite Dreams could have been influenced by visuals, perfect excuse.

More interestingly, if the setlist was only Steve's decision, he could have added (potentially) more rare songs in a 50th anniv tour! Interesting. Come on, Bruce. 2027 could have been a prefect 3rd Reunion era leg... it's curious what they will play in 2028, they can have more rare songs along with 5 new songs.

Yep. Aces is probably one of their most popular/streamed songs though.

I doubt about the mandatory classics. More like - Wasted Years (great visuals), 2 Minutes, even Powerslave. Or maybe Trooper, like they have rested Number on the previous tour. And also Fear is there and because of the tour poster. The noticeable visuals are: Murders, Powerslave, Rime, Hallowed, Aces, Wasted, Iron Maiden(a must).

Just Harris's opinion, singular. Read it in the latest FC magazine.

If I see him at Cart and Horses this week I'll ask him!!!!

The RFYL setlist seems decided by a committee of 3. Everyone who has ever had a committee at work will know sometimes it can come up with odd decisions that please no-one. But are arrived at nonetheless due to the internal chemistry of the commitee...

If we want to be anal, we can highlight that Where Eagles Dare was dropped from the selist during the 1993 tour and was not played in Dublin (I am assuming this is the show you went to; sorry if that was not the case). Definitely an unplayed rarity for you (and me) until 2005. :P

ha ha, I just assumed it was played

I also find it hard to believe Bruce doesn't want to do it, whatever about difficulties singing, he's not going to be against a bit of planes pantomime.

I think they all wanted to do it when planning the set list. And now have the experience of actually playing it after 90 mins onstage aged in their late 60s night after night …

The one atrocious Bruce performance of Aces from this summer is probably the most off I’ve heard them on stage (or seen footage of) since 1998. Sure it was a one off, but they will have noticed because it’s so rare for them.

I dunno, some of Nicko's worst nights from last year in Australia for example were even worse if you ask me, because him being totally off his game very nearly derailed entire songs like Fear. It was so bad management actually went for the it never happened strategy and forced people to take down their videos of it.

This year they've been copyright striking people just for the hell of it, which is of course a very nice thing to do to your fans. I think some Aces Lows might've also been affected, incidentally.

Yeah, I attended four (or three and a half) of those Aussie 2024 shows. I missed half of Sydney second night due to a work call - doh!

I didn’t think Nicko sounded that bad in the arena itself but maybe it was the atmosphere making up for it. But you are right, those are the exact shows he said he knew the game was up for him.

From Adrian's most recent interview:

I wanted to touch on the new Iron Maiden Book 'Infinite Dreams'; firstly, with that title, why is 'Infinite Dreams' not in the 'Run For Your Lives' set list?
Yeah, good question! I think it was pencilled in. It was pencilled in. We were going to do it, but for some reason, I don't know why we didn't end up doing it. I don't know why. That's interesting, yeah, the whole big 50th anniversary book, and then we don't do the song [laughing], but I mean, Maiden has got so many songs, it's just hard to cover everything.

I have a sneeky feeling that it was replaced by Clairvoyant last minute due to the difficult vocals.

But, Aces remained, so... Go figure.
