I see your point but I think WY is a fitting end to the 50th. At least they haven't reached Priest level yet as they end every tour with Living After Midnight

They're kinda doing it with Iron Maiden (the song).

I think it's okay for a band to have one live staple that always closes the setlist. AC/DC has For Those About to Rock, Slayer has Angel of Death, Deep Purple has Black Night... I'm not against the formula.

As I said before, Wasted Years is - IMO - the perfect closer. And it's not out of place here since they're celebrating their 50th anniversary. But I find it just odd to close the setlist with WY when the tour's name is Run for Your Lives. I was 99% sure that they'd finish the concert with RttH.
 
I was wondering if that drum intro was quite there, and turns out, no, it wasn't. First show nerves for sure. I think that's probably the most noticeable honest-to-God fuckup Simon had, there were smaller flubs and some difficulty with timing here and there I believe, but a really good showing for what must've been a nerve-wracking performance.

e: Also I was wrong about the jeans. Bruce has some weird as fuck trousers on once again.
 
Adrian playing SSOASS with a Lado doesn't seem right.

Also both Lados seem to be in original condition and the silverburst has been Floyded. The Destroyer seems like it was repaired and it has a new white stripe (which fell down when it was in a flood).
 
With the caveat that I watched the show on my phone from a live stream, I was impressed by Simon. I like that his drumming is his own style while still serving the songs as performed by Nicko and Clive.

I also appreciate that he has a smaller, less flashy kit. It would’ve been absurd for him to copy Nicko’s kit and the graphics.

I was honestly slightly afraid they were gonna have him on a super tight leash and do exactly this, maybe with slightly fewer toms and crashes and more typical sizes but otherwise trying to mimic Nicko's setup. I'm glad to see they're not treating him as a glorified crew member or anything, he even got to be on the screens occasionally and played shit how he felt it, rather than perfectly copying the albums.

e: Also, a hearty lol and lmao at the typical YouTube comment section experts declaring Simon is another Blaze and unqualified and incapable etc. I knew it was going to happen since those same types were moaning about Nicko in 2023 until we got news what had happened and they mostly shut the fuck up, although a few doubled down with "he should've stepped down already!!" like the absolute scum and vermin they are.
