It's OK. Very different from Nightmare though. Beast And The Harlot is a great song.

Yeah, I know Nightmare is a better record, I was more refering to the quality of the vinyl verus the CD.  Some records seem to be them slapping the CD master on a record and it sounds like crap.  Nightmare was well done from a Vinyl standpoint, hoping City of Evil is the same.

Oh, I've never heard a vinyl record before so I couldn't say. I've never had problems with CDs that were produced right though.

I love all the songs on 2112 :(
Maybe my fave Rush album, though I only have about half.
I've tried many times to get into that 2nd side but the only song that I like is Bangkok. And I don't care for even that too much.

2112 isn't that fantastic though. I prefer the seventies albums after that one.

As far as I'm aware there are two seventies albums after 2112, A farewell To Kings & Hemispheres, I intend to buy more Rush albums it is just a question of what to get next!, I will keep an eye out for those two. If you have any other recommendations for future purchases I would be keen to know.

Rush is a band I could never get into, I recognize they are talented and certainly like some of their songs, but I could never listen to more than a side of an album at a time.

I really like what I've heard so far, I need to hear more of their albums though before I can make any judgement on them as a band.

Recent addition to the collection:

Foxy Shazam. Saw them at Brisbane Soundwave as one of the 800 openers for Maiden, and they are NUTS. Saw them again this weekend in Boston. They're Queen-like with a bit more funk, and the lead singer is flipping nuts. Check out their imo best song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg4CPaKzSUU. They put on a crazy show, too.

Otherwise, to jump in  on the Rush discussion, A Farewell to Kings is my fav Rush album. Hands down. Brilliant.

Hemispheres is probably my favorite album. All 4 songs are great and La Villa Strangiato is my favorite Rush song.
Farewell to Kings is pretty good too. There are a few fillers on there but with songs like Xanadu and Cygnus X-II it's OK
I do not have Permanent Waves yet but I know most of the songs and they are really good.
Signals is when RUSH started to go more for the keyboard sounds and it depends on weather you like that type of thing or not.

Overall I would recommend getting Hemispheres as well as Farewell To Kings next.

I don't really like progressive rock/metal, but I want to check out Rush. What is their most accessible/catchy and (at the same time) most metallish album?

Hemispheres & A Farewell To Kings it is then, I will also keep the Permanent Waves album you mentioned in mind when I'm looking for the other two. I don't mind keyboards in music... not too much though!, I prefer guitar driven music.

I would imagine the more recent albums are their most metallish. Most accessible would definitely be Moving Pictures though.

A lot of their stuff isn't that progressive, there was just an era which they released progressive albums.

George Carlin  -- Class Clown
King Crimson -- USA
Blue Oyster Cult -- Agents of Fortune
Nektar -- Down to Earth
HSAS -- Through the Fire
Rainbow -- Down to Earth

My brother came home for the weekend and gave me his copies of Kid A and In Rainbows by Radiohead, have to say I am loving both of them. Kid A in particular is excellent, though In Rainbows has my favourite of all the songs, Videotape. Highly recommend both albums to anyone who doesn't listen to much Radiohead, especially Kid A.
