Rant Thread

Organized gypsy thieves are roaming the area around the nearby mall every time I pass it. I sat near the window the other day inside the mall and observed them for some time. They took the trip marked with red at least 5 times in about 30 minutes.

It's always 4 of them, but I saw 3 different groups in the past few weeks. They go into the underground passage and scout people to rob. Usually one stays behind, one goes in front and two invade that person's personal space to confuse him/her so that they can do their bidding.

There were a lot of cops there for a week or so few months ago, and then there was no robbing, but when the cops backed off, they came back in full force. Probably the same group that stole my phone. Also, I'm not paranoid because I was there with multiple different people and they all noticed the same pattern. There's no reason for a group of 4 people to cross the street and go through that underground passage for so many times.

When you spend hours filling an application and an ERROR happens when you try to save it and nothing is saved and you have to do it all over again:

I bought an awesome pair of shoes. Possibly the best shoes I ever bought. Wore them tonight for the first time. After some time my ankles started to hurt, due to the shoes cutting into them. Now my ankles are all bloody. Sad!

I was told by a neurologist to have a CT scan because of my tinnitus. So I got it scheduled for July... in April. And I go there this morning, woke up at fucking 5:45 am, go there, the doctor is 45 minutes late and then she says my referral letter is not right and I can't have the scan and should go to my doctor and blah blah blah. I just asked if it's out of the question for this morning, she said yes so I went home to work. Fucking referral letters, FML. It wouldn't be Serbia if it didn't include going through 10 different doctors, specialists and referrals before getting it right.

July scheduled in April is ok since you're young and not dying...but tinnitus sucks. I started having it recently.

Yeah, I guess that long of a wait is normal, the problem is that I'll have to wait that long again because they fucked up the referral.

I was going to say, I'm sure I've heard similar stories, followed by the comment: "Bloody NHS!"

I didn't know you had tinnitus. Nasty stuff. :(

Luckily mine isn't too bad. It's annoying for sure, but I know a guy whose tinnitus is 10x louder. For me, once every few months it's more annoying than usual, and sometimes after concerts in tiny venues, but overall I'm used to it. I can hear it only when it's really silent and even then I learned how to tune it out. However, the doctor is making me go do a CT scan "just in case", even though it's close to 2 years since I've got it.

Now that sucks.

Having tinnitus does, too. I've had it to and from for some years now. It's more audible on my left ear than on the right, and it varies from hardly audible to the level where it disturbs my sleep. I also find that it is worse when I'm stressed or tired, and it gets worse with typical monotone noise (like road noise, or the constant background noise on board a passenger jet).

Booked flight Berlin-Sofia for today several weeks ago. Figured: Crap, gate closes at 17:25, my class goes until 15:45. Way from uni to airport is around 80 minutes. It's holiday season, so security and passport check would be around 20 minutes. Figured: That's a bit close.
Told my students that I would be starting class at 14:00 straight, instead of 14:15, which is possible in German universities. Won 15 crucial minutes.
Got to airport 30 minutes before gate closes. Flight delayed for ca. 1.5 hours.
You do not want to idle at Berlin-Schönefeld airport for 1.5 hours. It's not as much a crappy airport (or the world's worst airport) as it is purgatory.

EDIT: Just as I wrote it, the flight got pushed back another three hours. That's a 4.5 hour delay for a 2 hour flight.

Did you not bring a book?

I did, but that's beside the point.

On the up side, as a compensation I got a voucher over five Euros for an airport restaurant. So I only had to pay 2,50 for a small coffee and a bag of nuts, what a steal.
