A bit of obscure knowledge
Michael Kenney – Keyboards and Bass Technician: Hello, I'm Michael Kenney, I take care of this bass guitar here. First started sometime in 1980. So my cadaver will probably be doing this, ahm, long after I'm gone. People wonder where the blue bass went to and this is it. It's the one he plays 99.9% of the time. We foam the straps. In fact, we use load strap in there, so the straps won't break. And then all that gets covered by a sleeve. I needed something to cover the tape, because the tape always caught his hair. The very first one I did was actually a pair of knee socks that I cut the feet out of. But then leg-warmers came in, so we used leg-warmers, and then they went out and we couldn't get them anywhere. So, actually, my mother knits these. (part of the DEATH ON THE ROAD DOCUMENTARY)

But way better formulated than that, of course.
