Just saw a good women volleyball match with an excellent result. We (number 11 in the world) came 1-0 ahead, then it was 1-2 behind and then a 3-2 victory against China (number 3 in the world). That's a great start in the group of death, with USA and Serbia.

Grigor Dimitrov just lost 0:2 in the first round of the tennis tournament to Marin Cilic. Well, that was underwhelming...

Dutch handball women were disappointing as well... I expected more from them. And from Kiki Bertens (tennis). She lost 1:2 to some Italian newbie.

The coverage of the games by state television (they hold the broadcasting rights) is absolutely atrocious. There are games going on and they're discussing football instead.

Just witnessed a horrible injury watching the vaulting event at Artistic Gymnastics. French athlete landed awkwardly and broke his tibia.

I only have one channel broadcasting Olympics and they're showing judo
I watched the Judo as well but I didn't really understand it. My housemate used to be a Judoka so she was getting really in to it,

I watched the Cycling earlier. Just over six hours long and I fell asleep with about 60 km to go and woke up 15 km later. The end of the race was worth it.

Watching USA - China basketball now. It's fun, although I'd expect the Chinese to be more of a competition than they are showing at the moment.

Fucking state TV doesn't show anything from the Olympics unless it's Turkey related.

Even the British media focuses too much on the British athletes, which is quite frustrating. For example, after the cycling race yesterday the BBC headline was about Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome not winning medals when it really should have been about Greg Van Avermaet winning a thriller in the final 500m. During the London Olympics it took the BBC a week to start inviting non-British athletes into the studio for interviews and the questions for the Brits were no more than "How do you feel? How was the atmosphere? What was the crowd like?" The response to each of those questions was usually "Amazing". I think Usain Bolt is the only competitor who gets equal coverage with the Brits.

Available on my TV at the moment:
2 American feeds, our national network feed, the national news channel feed and five sports channel feeds.
Yes, that's nine channels of Olympic coverage.

Arrrgh. A Dutch lady (Annemiek van Vleuten) was leading comfortably in the woman's cycling race, but she fell terribly hard, face down on the concrete at the side of the road. I hope she didn't break her neck, or something else terrible happened. Naturally, the loss of the golden medal is very hard, but now I'm especially thinking of her health. It looked so nasty. Afterwards, she didn't move an inch.
