Hopefully his foot can hold up. And not playing regulary for 3 seasons and his age (37), I don't think he can return to his former level, but I believe he can still be effective.

I always think of Al MacInnis when I see the hardest shot competion. I believe 102 mph was a feat back in the early 90's. Aluminum sticks were always the trustiest. Not these composite pieces of shit the guys play with these days.

In doing a little research, the hardest shot belongs to Bobby Hull with 118 MPH... So I don't know where Iafrate's, McInnis and Chara's record fall under...

That Hull mark always struck me as false/a mistake.
Considering the time period it was recorded I'm thinking something was off with the testing process or the technology.
Hull was a god, but considering the stick technology improvements and the athletic training improvements we've had, it's hard to believe he was 10 per cent better then anyone who's come along in the past 50 years.

I agree, which it is probably why it never gets mentioned. Interesting note, If Chara didn't have a cannon of a shot, Shea Weber shot a 104.8... enough to break Iafrate's record as well... That makes me feel old :(

He went in to that fight half hearted. Went for the jersey grab on Johnson and you can tell from the footage he was scared of getting punched in the face. Once he got nailed he immediately went into the turtle.

Yup.

So I thoroughly enjoyed the WSH v. PIT game. This is a legit rivalry now. I remember when Ovi and Sid entered the league and the Media created this fictitious rivalry between the supposed best players in the league. Well... 6 years in this has become a very real rivalry not just Ovi v. sid, but between the teams. Last time I remember seeing this intensity was the Det. v. Col games of the mid to late 90s...

Yeah, the Pens/Caps rivalry is one of the best in sports right now. DiPietro has some fractured bones in his face from the bout with Johnson. 15 years of injuries

Lindros wasn't fragile from day one. Being a power foward did him in... like Neely and Forsberg. I hope Ovi doesn't suffer the same fate, but when you are physical AND skilled, people are gunning for you for two reasons.

Lindros is an unfortunate result of people not taking concussions seriously in the past.
