Where the hell was Mike Richards last night? I am surprised they won without getting anything from their best all around player. But great game...this series has been a good one. A little bonus for everyone here in the States watching it on Versus....no Pierre McGuire.
 
Richards had a ton of chances and played extra physical, but the big names have not been firing on either team. I think Pronger has been playing the best of any player on the ice, and if Philly pulls this off, I think Pronger should win the Conn Smythe.

Even if Philly pushes it to 7.

What are you talking about the big names haven't fired? Briere has been sensational for philly even in this series, Kane had a goal last night, but like JR said on "The Daily Line" last night, with so much focus on the top 6 by both teams' D, it is up to players like Giroux and other grinders to get the job done. I'll check the link at home since my job has blocked EVERYTHING, except this site :D
 
Richards has been playing like a beast...he just was'nt there last night. Pronger definitely has been the best player in the series. And WTF is Carcillo doing on the 2nd line? A guy making dumb decisions like he does puts your team at a disadvantage...maybe that is why Richards did'nt look like himself.
 
The most important thing to keep in mind is that Chicago is up 2-1 in this series and dropped Wednesday's game in overtime, all when they've been playing rather poorly. The varsity line hasn't done much, but like the Kane goal showed, all it takes is one breakaway for them to put the puck in the net. My thinking is that they try to return to their style of play from Monday's game, where they matched the intensity of Philadelphia and put the checking line on the ice for longer shifts. Simply put, I think we're gonna see a game tonight that will be nothing like Wednesday's match-up.

Also, if Andy Ladd is back in the lineup tonight, this whole series changes, IMO.
 
If Philly comes back and wins this series, Pronger gets a Conn Smythe, assuring his place in the Hockey Hall of Fame when his career ends. He's the only reason Philly is winning these games. Replace him with any other defensemen, and the series ended tonight.

Hawks played like shit tonight until the last 10 minutes.
 
until Sharp fucked up. I think it was sharp, could not control that clearing puck, and carter just waltzes on in... that pissed me off, Hawks could've tied it otherwise.
 
Quenneville  shuffled his line and gets an answer to Chris Pronger. I am surprised that no one on the Flyers sent a message to the 'Hawks. Especially how Brierre got that high stick to the eye with no peanalty.
 
And they took it to Pronger too, that check was beautiful. Home Ice has proven to be the difference in this series. It also goes to show teams can win cups with OK goaltending. 7-4? Don't get me wrong all three goalies have had their spectacular nights, but overall, they've done enough to win games.
 
I've been watching the games on CBC and the one commentator is really starting to piss me off. I cant remember his name right now (he's the one that sits between the benches), but he loves to bash on Niemi. I understand that Niemi hasnt been playing great but neither has leighton and he barley says anything about him.

You know its a beautiful play when all 5 players on your team touch the puck before it goes in to the net. Byfuglien had an amazing game and it was awesome to see him knock Pronger on his ass. I think that the hawks are going to win the cup in Philly.
 
I say its a 'Home ice wins all games' type of series.  Philly wins game 6, 'Hawks win it in 7. 

I gotta say, kudos to the 'Hawks!  They took a bottom of the barrel team from a few years back, and built a great team!  That isn't easy to do, and (I don't think) they did it without 'buying' a team.  I was talking hockey with a guy in Chitown just the other day, and made a comment about how crazy the town seemed for the team.  He said, "Yeah, right... most of these fuckers didn't watch a single game over the last 3 years and don't know even half of the players names.  Fuck 'em, whatever."

Career back up....but a good one. Watched him in his old AHL days in New Haven with the NightHawks. He has got to be less annoying than Pierre McGuire. Plus he won the cup with the '94 Rangers :yey:

I agree. Teams now have to build through the draft, because of the cap. I think that is the catalyst behind so many 10, 12 even 15 year contracts. Sure the crazy owner of the islanders started back when he gave Yashin a 10 year contract (only to trade him 3 years later), and Dipietro a 12... But Zetterberg and Ovechkin have received similar contracts. GMs don't have to worry about them becoming free agents, they are locked at a bargain rate for over a decade and they can always trade them if they feel like it.

Back to the Hawks, the only "money" player they have is Hossa, a cup chaser, who hasn't done much, because of the incredible depth of the team. Draft and trades... that's where it's at for the current power houses.

Ya he's defiantly better then Pierre, I usually like his criticism of players because its true but it just feels like he's been taking alot of jabs at neimi. I also just had the realztion that the season is going to be done soon :(, now what am I going to watch on T.V until September golf? Ha Ha Ha
