I think everyone will beat the Flyers this year. Last season I think they over achieved. CuJo is also a Maple Leaf once again.

The Flyers have improved leaps and bounds and while teams should still get a W against them, it won't be an easy one like two seasons ago. They are underrated I think. The pens-caps game was a joke. Fucking pens decided to sit back in the third period and they got clobbered, I hope it's just a slow start, but they better pick it up soon.

Sens looked like they were at top form on Friday, beating those Coyotes 6-3.  Weird, considering that Ottawa was outshot 37-26, but they played with so much flow and generated a lot more pressure.  Gerber played well also.

Clearly, they are the only team in contention for the Cup this year.

I wish I had NHL09 :( I'm still plowing through '07
Ha ha ha ...I'm still playing NHL 2001. I have mastered every aspect of this game, yet I am still compelled to play it. I beat my son, he was the Canadians and I was team Khazakhstan. I created Borat Sagdiyev, who scored 5 goals in the unbelievable 8-2 upset! "It's nice to beat Canadian team. Next we play U S and A!". I did not allow my son to move the puck. He scored the two goals after I pulled the goalie in the 3rd period. He cried, but he must learn to win. Am I a bad father?

If I remember correctly, the secret to scoring every single time in THAT Nhl game is deflections.

If I am moving north during the game with a left hand shot, I move left when I get to the top of the circle and shoot to the top left corner, that works almost every time. If I am moving south , I cycle the puck int the bottom right corner, pass to the right point man( my left D man), then a quick diagonal pass to the right wing or center for the one timer. That works every time if you can make the passes.

Deflections also work well in 05 and 06. The one timers are not as effective. My brother and I played nhl95 for YEARS. We would pick two teams in each conference hoping at least one of our teams would reach the final. He ALWAYS won the presidents trophy with Pittsburgh and the Hart and Art Ross trophies with Lemieux. But I one the Cup three seasons in a row with the Bruins :D and the season he finally gets to the final with the pens I beat him with Detroit :D He only one the cup once, with St. Louis, it  was my Bruins fourth and final cup appearance (in a row too). Then he moved :(. Last time we got together we played a World Tourney in NHL06 and the final was Finland vs. Sweden, talk about a classic! I was going in undefeated with Finland, but he still beat me. He scored three quick ones and I wasn't able to recover. I told him that is his consolation prize for never winning the cup with the Pens :D

My friend still has NHL '95 for his Nintendo.  We play it sometimes, just to laugh at how outdated yet completely awesome it is.

OK, who is the Fighting Mongooses?  He/she/it is doing nicely in the fantasy game.

And, hey!  Look at the 4-1 Blues!  I know, its early, and they won't keep it up, but it is cool to see as long as it lasts!

Ha ha!  moves quickly, doesn't it?  I think you were in the lead for a while.

ok, so I know these teams:

Autobots = LC
MexiCAN's = Onhell
St L Wasted = me

That leaves

Fighting Mongooses
Team Ferrier
Blizzards

Did Deano play?  and GK?

One last question, how does the scoring work?  I must be slow.  :nuts:

Those three are my friends Nick, Cale, and Jay.

And scoring works thus: all your points in each category are in a pool.  If you are 1st in the pool, you get 6 points.  If you are second, 5.  And so on.

Since I contribute almost nothing to this thread... here is a picture of me with the Stanley Cup:
