A long one, too! Hopefully it's going to be indicative of how the playoffs go all around. Most games were close - except for Islanders/Washington, and I'd love to see Washington get blown out.

Rough, rough game for the Hawks. Hopefully they bounce back - I have a lot of Hawks in my pool.

The Habs won another one. I know the game went to OT, but I felt that, in general, Montreal is outplaying Ottawa in all aspects of the ice.

He played well in game 3. Has to be a nice thrill for him to be playing in the playoffs about 20 miles from where he was born.

Apologies to any Canuck fans here, but I was very happy Calgary won last tine. Again, I am sure anyone here is the exception, but they might have one of the worse fan bases in all of sports (yes, including Philly). They might as well get knocked out quick so they can start up with the insurance claims from the riot. How people can be such miserable fans, while living in such a beautiful place is beyond me.

Rant over ... go Flames!

My dad, who is a BC native, is cheering for Calgary for the exact same reason.

The Habs managed to gut out another win. I'm getting progressively more and more concerned about going out in public with my Canadiens shirt on.

You should be .. my Dad has a trip planned in a few weeks to Ottawa then Montreal. He's planning on bringing his Hawks shirt. Anyway, if you see an old guy walking around with a Blackhawks shirt on and a beer, it is probably my Dad

I should add, I have spent some time in Calgary ... incredibly nice people there

As a man who has spent most us his life surrounded by Canuck fans....

Game started around 8:45PM local times, ended around 1:30AM local time. Dragging a bit today, but I had to watch the whole thing. Thankfully, the Hawks pulled it out.

There was an odd stoppage of play for about 5 minutes in the first OT. The puck was dumped in just wide of the net, Rinne left the goal to play it, the puck bounced off the end boards and got stuck/lost in his pads. It took about 5 mins, with the ref getting really friendly with Rinne at times before they were table to dig it out. Odd

Seems like it was good OT too. That's important as well. Congratulations on being a playoff warrior - both of my OTs have ended quite quickly so far.

Yeah, it was no snoozer, both teams had many many chances to end it. Some great goaltending on both ends of the ice for sure

100 shots on goal exactly for the game

No pressure

Wayne Gretzky has offered some high praise for hockey's next big thing.

The Great One, in an interview with the Edmonton Journal, said touted 18-year-old Connor McDavid is "clearly a franchise player."

"He's as good as I've seen in the last 30 years, the best player to come into the league in the last 30 years, the best to come along since [Mario] Lemieux and [Sidney] Crosby," Gretzky told the newspaper. "He can definitely change a franchise's fortunes."

EDMONTON — Is Connor McDavid the Second Coming of Wayne Gretzky?

Edmonton Oilers fans are wondering that after the National Hockey League club won the draft lottery on Saturday, which gives them the right to select McDavid — the wondrous 18-year-old centre who racked up 44 goals and 120 points in a mere 47 games for his junior Erie Otters team — in June’s entry draft.

The comparison to No. 99 brought a laugh from Gretzky, who’s pulling for the kid.

“Good for him. When I was going down that path as a young player, Gordie Howe was always pulling for me, and I look at Connor the same way,” said The Great One, who stands as the NHL’s all-time leading scorer with 2,857 points and holds or shares 61 NHL records. “I hope he brings Edmonton a Stanley Cup and he breaks my records ... he’s got the talent and the makeup to do it. I hope he leaves a couple for me, though. I could use that.”

Gretzky says McDavid is “clearly a franchise player.
