Up in Chicago to visit family and go to the Bears game Sunday .. might turn it into a double header and go to the Hawks-Leafs game (tickets are expensive as hell, but think I'll go for it)

Hmmm .. dual coaches for the Devils.

The college of coaches worked out so well for the Cubs

Scott Stevens and Adam Oates were announced as co-coaches of the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, one day after former coach Peter DeBoer was fired.

Assistant coach Dave Barr was also dismissed, general manager Lou Lamoriello said.

Lamoriello will be behind the bench with Stevens and Oates for a short period of time. Stevens, a Hall of Fame defenseman who won three Stanley Cups as Devils captain, will oversee the defense. Oates will oversee the forwards.

The Devils (12-17-7) are seventh in the Metropolitan Division with 31 points, nine points out of the final Eastern Conference wild-card berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. DeBoer was in his fourth season as New Jersey's coach.

Lamiorello has had a hell of a career, but it is time for him to go. The Devils have a terrible roster and he has drafted poorly over the last 10 years.

The World Cup of Hockey returns in 2016 from Sept 17-Oct 1.

8 teams
Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden, USA, Team Europe and Team North American Youngsters.

Team Europe is for players who's countries aren't represented.

The youngsters team is for all NA players under 23,

Have to say, I like this better than NHL players in the Olympics (no stoppage in the middle of the season)

I like the idea of Team Europe and Team Young NA. Of course, there's really no competition. Canada shall win.

Young stars concept is getting dumped on a lot, but I like it.
Young bucks with something to prove — might be entertaining.

On one hand, I would prefer another country be added. But on the other hand, I cannot see another country/team that could be added that would be more talented than under 23 North Americans. Split the rest of Europe into East/West?, Asian team as a sacrificial lamb?

Not sure. It would be nice if they did women's hockey side by side. I am not a huge fan of it, but if Hockey is out of the Olympics, they should have a stage to play on.

Hockey won't be out of the Olympics.
NHL participation hasn't been decided yet, but even if they skip, the IOC will still stage a tourney.

I enjoy it as well, but I do not enjoy stopping the season. This seems like a good way to get the same level of competition and keep the regular season in tact.

cool ... this is on tomorrow

ESPN’s 30 for 30

“Of Miracles and Men” will examine the 1980 USA-USSR Olympic hockey game. The Miracle on Ice is one of the most famous games in the history of American sports. But this film will go to a place where audiences have not been taken before – to the Soviet side of the upset.

The playoffs are an hour old and I've already screamed myself hoarse at the reffing. I get the major, but the game? Fucking refs.

Nice to see the Islanders beating Washington. May that continue.
