Sure it did, how many icing races could the goalie negate just by getting to it first? now we have those races that have led to injuries and they are talking bout changing the icing rules instead of just letting goalies get the puck. Oh, but they are intefering with potential offensive opportunities! fuck that!

Because calling icing creates the same opportunities as the charging down the ice fullblown. And let's be honest, how many goalies ACTUALLY had good puck control? Not too damn many. Most of them weren't that good, only Brodeur, Hextall, Theodore, and maybe two or three others have ever actually scored.

Hextall was incredible. And his temper!

True... Hextall was ok... I don't know if incredible, but he was alright. There are a lot of "legends" with the shoddiest of stats, in every position. Bernie Parent WAS incredible, more so than Billy Smith or Grant Fuhr, but he doesn't get near the same respect, because he wasn't in a dynasty team.

The two line pass was way overdue, it has made the game so more exciting. Good news for me, even though my birthday is not for about 3 weeks, my wife got me tickets to go see the Blackhawks-Stars game on Oct 9th ... should be very fun, there will be tons of Chicago fans there.

Nice! I hope they're alright tickets and that you have a great time. You apparently have to commit murder to see a game in Ottawa.

Thanks .. a little easier in Dallas, though it is hard for Boston, Chicago, the NY teams, Philly games to get tickets .. lots of transplants

So as the season is set to start not a whole lot has changed. The perennial contenders are still L.A, Chicago and Boston. For the first time since 2009 I am not counting Pittsburgh in that group. I look at their changes and I am not impressed. They have a lot to prove and while not in full rebuild mode, with a new coach and GM if they do not deliver personnel changes will follow.

who else like giving these select three a run for their money? Out West, Anaheim looks very good on paper, Colorado may continue to improve. In the East? Psh, I did not expect to have a New York-Montreal Conference Final and I doubt we will see that again. If Boston doesn't make it to the finals the Cup will once again be assured to go to the West, even if Chicago or L.A are not in that Final.

I do not think they will challenge, but Dallas made some nice off season moves and now have a really solid second line to go along with an excellent top line. They are probably an off season or two of good moves away, but they could be a tough out in the playoffs

I like the look of Colorado a lot. I don't count my Habs out, either. We lost some slowness and oldness and picked up some youth. I think Boston isn't going to have a great year...sorry, Onhell. Pittsburgh is a mixed bag. Same talent, new coach...we will see.

Here's my official predictions.

1. Sidney will win the Hart, Art Ross, and Lindsay again.
2. Vezina to Rask.
3. Division winners will be: Montreal, Pittsburgh, St Louis, and Chicago - Chicago will win the President's Cup.
4. LA will repeat.

LOL, we are true to our teams, that is for sure. I agree with your assessment of MTL and I would not want to meet them again in the playoffs, but what is your assessment of the B's that makes you think they will not have a good year? The core is intact. Is it due to the number of unproven/bounce back players? Will Krug continue to improve? Can Louis Erikson score 25+ goals? That kind of thing?

Dallas is starting to look very scary and I agree they may be two seasons away from being serious contenders.

Boston lost a lot of goals when they lost Iginla. I don't think they're making that up, and I think Chara has not been as great as he was previously, and he is going to get worse, even if Rask gets better.

They are hoping Erikson can pick up Iginla's slack after a disappointing first season. Otherwise, a trade may be in order for someone who can pick up those goals. With Chara... he's still good, and as far as getting worse, he is getting older, as is the rest of the core group so this is a last hoo-rah of sorts. If they don't win it this year the window shrinks considerably.

I would collect this set. I have (some would say obviously) a set of Caesar Chavez stamps, but that's it. Now THESE I would love to have. I wonder if I can order some online...

Sucks .. but he was going to have to go at some point and in reality he was the #5 D-man on the team. Wish they could have gotten rid of Versteeg instead.

The Blackhawks, who needed to make a deal to get under the NHL's salary cap, on Saturday traded 23-year-old defenseman Nick Leddy to the New York Islanders for three prospects

The Isles also received goalie Kent Simpson from the Blackhawks. They gave up defensive prospects Ville Pokka, T.J. Brennan and goaltender Anders Nilsson in the deal.

Saw my first live hockey game in about 10 years yesterday. SHL, Färjestad BK against Linköping HC, losing 1-5.

It was fun, but I see it as a one-off thing.

I feel your pain. The bruins had to let Iginla go, because of the cap, they'll be over it anyway until they place Savard on the Long Term IR list. They also have way too many d-men...

As for the Stamps, they'll have to wait until after I get NHL 15 and the George Harrison Box set :).
