Holy crap what a game ... Kane is just huge when they need him. an amazing assist to set up Keith then skating through the entire Kings D with the game winner.

Onto Game 7

These Stanley Cup finals games are just awesome. No two-goal lead is safe -- NYR have blown three such leads in two games. Kings sure are exciting (and frustrating) to watch this postseason.

The only huge problem with this series is it's 2-0 for the Kings. Not a problem for me (fuck the Rangers) but certainly if you just want a "close series".

Red Wing fan on twitter after they gave Kyle Quincy 9 million over 2 years after missing on all their other targets

Signing Kyle Quincey is like striking out at the bar, going home, texting an old girlfriend, getting no response, then making out with a mop

I like the Richards signing, he is an upgrade from Handzus, the contract does not affect resigning Toews and Kane like some of the other centers out there would have .. .and in theory Terevanien (sp?) should be able to step into that role the season after next.

Looks like he was talking about Claude Giroux, who spent the night in an Ottawa jail :p

Montreal traded Josh Gorges, which makes me very, very sad. But I am OK with our signings. Tom Gilbert will be an acceptable #4 D and Malholtra is a nice depth centre.

We Sabre fans are very happy to have him. That guy is a warrior.

Miller off to the Canucks... don't know what to think about that. Wonder why St. Louis didn't resign him.

I don't know about "terrible," but I guess he didn't deliver. He hasn't been up to snuff for at least three seasons though, makes you wonder why the Canucks would go after him. A lot of "big name" goalies that are REALLY old/over the hill in free agency. Vokoun, Brysgalov, Brodeur, Thomas. Miller isn't "old", but as you point it out, he wasn't "on it" last season, nor has he for some time.

The Canucks need someone to help Lack get along. Turns out that if you trade away your 1A and 1B goaltender then your 2A isn't good enough or experienced enough. Funny how that goes.

Miller did not adjust well to the Blues style, but on a horrible Buffalo team prior to the trade he was outstanding. I watched all the games.
That said, I think he will regret Vancouver. It's a bad team in a city that eats goalies alive.

I don't know that Vancouver was a bad team. They became a bad team last year, but by all accounts Tortorella drove them to that. Unfortunate, because he can usually get results - just not this time.

Excellent

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forwards Jonathan Toews andPatrick Kane on eight-year contract extensions, which run through the 2022-23 National Hockey League season. A formal press conference will be held at the United Center next week, with day and time being announced at a later date.

Toews, 26, became the youngest captain in Blackhawks history, third-youngest in NHL history, on July 18, 2008 and has guided the organization to two Stanley Cup championships during his time in Chicago. He became the second-youngest player to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP following the Blackhawks 2010 championship, the franchise’s first title in 49 years. He won the NHL’s Frank J. Selke Trophy, given annually to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game, in 2013 and was a finalist for the award in 2011 and 2014. Toews was also a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie in 2008 and was selected for the NHL All-Star Game in 2009, 2011 and 2012. He was named to the NHL’s Second All-Star Team following the 2013 campaign.

I saw that on ESPN today. That is great news for the Hawks, I was very happy with the deal as well. A contender for years to come.

I keep thinking the Stanley Cup is going to go to the winner of the annual Kings-Hawks Western Conference Final series.

The Hawks have the following players signed:
Kane - 2023
Toews - 2023
Sharp - 2017
Hossa - 2021
Keith - 2023
Hjalmarson - 2019
Crawford - 2020

That's a nice core.
